For me it's a lot more fun to go see the Rome Braves.

Sister lives in Rome, so we go to a lot of those games. 6yo nephew and I went to one Berry game this year, but his games conflicted with the rest of them. But college ball is way fun to me.
And we're going to see you at a game this year.

I'll talk to y'all before the game this time so we can meet up instead of us sitting in the other team's section last year and wondering who y'all were. :D Of course, the weather that day as hideous, so we were just trying to survive.

The only professional team I follow is Bama football. RTR!!!

So you are saying that they are PAID PROFESSIONALS? Boy will the college administrators be upset with this news!

Trust me, if they win three consecutive there will be an investigation on some trumped up allegations so they can wipe them off the books. If you can't beat 'em, repeal them. No wait, that's for O-care. If you can't beat them, put them on probation and add an asterisk.

PD is already all over that part time. LOL!

I have NO doubt about it, but it depends on salesmanship. Deputies are as much cops as the PD is. But what I'm actually referring to is their OWN sworn police force, like a campus type PD. Since it will be open year round they would save a lot of money not paying Cobb PD or the SO $45.00 or $50.00 per hour....and there is a multitude of retired, sworn folks in their early 50's out there looking for work. Believe me, I'm tripping all over them competing for a job. :BH

Why would it be open year-round?

Well, whatever they want is what they should get. ;)

Somebody may have already mentioned this...I'm wondering what they'll do about traffic. That's already a very congested area.

Naming of the field, sponsorships of the park, revenue from parking, etc will all be increased money for the braves. It should make them more attractive to sell and field a better team (money wise)

Agreed and I was excited to hear about the investment Oscar Meyer has offered in the new project, "Bacon Field" :CLAP

Cobb will pay 40%. New funding will be a 3 percent countywide car rental tax, a fee on top of the existing hotel-motel tax and a new 3 mil tax increase on property owners within the Cumberland CID. They expect the combined taxes to raise $5.1 million per year. No countywide millage increase is included or expected.

Correction, I think. It appears from rereading the MDJ article that the 3 mil TAD increase alone will raise $5.1 million.

I received this today. Regarding the traffic, I'm certain that is recognized as a major concern and they will be doing some serious pre-planning in advance. Remember, this is private industry involved, not the Obama Administration ::)
