Braves 2019

Get ready for his offense to go in the tank,,, long term contracts make ball players go to sleep until their free agency year!!!

The Falcon's would do good to learn that lesson as well. Once you have a long term guaranteed contract, why make plays that might hurt you?

Of course, if the players are smart, they negotiate a contract that lasts for 35 years and retire at 35, and enjoy the rest of your life.

Look at Bruce Sutter with the Braves:
  • 1985-1991: $750,000 each year (6 years he was supposed to play, he only played 3 years)
  • 1992-2021: $1.12 million every year (30 years Interest on his 9.1 million contract at 12.3%)
  • 2021: $9.1 million, which represents the ‘principal’ dollars that were supposedly placed in a 12.3% interest-bearing annuity back in 1985.
By those numbers, that adds up to $45 million over the 36 year life of the deal.

I could live with that deal...

The Hispanic guy that does my installs and is a serious soccer fan...

Said he thought the only team in Atlanta that has management that WANTS to win...
Is the Soccer team.

IMO he may have a point... :)

I have always thought that players should have a base salary commensurate with their basic abilities that might last 3-5 years, then put in a bonus clause that pays them for their performance, both offense and defense. That way everything positive they do adds to their salary, not what they are capable of doing. Just my opinion,,, I could be wrong!!!

Who is the guy wearing Swanson's uniform and what did they do with the real Swanson? This new Swanson can hit.
