Berkeley Declares Climate Emergency...

While some of their concerns have some validity; I couldn't help but notice the code words in the article.

The structure likes like just another political power grab, using the planet as the cause.

The solution to the problem is simple, as The Bard of Avon wrote, "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers.", then we go to work getting rid of the democrats!
I've long said we don't have global climate change, but we do have global ecology change. Simple math and some basic logic will tell you that the more people we have on the planet, the more waste product we have to dispose of, and basic necessities to provide! It's this combined effort to sustain 7 billion people on the planet that is causing the problem, not the fossil fuels consumed frivolously, as the climate changers claim.
I've no idea how to solve this problem, as China tried negative population growth to little avail. The best thing I can think of is to extrapolate the ecological impact of 15 billion people (around 2070), and use that as educational material for zero/negative growth while allowing natural attrition to bring the planet back to a manageable 2.5 billion souls.
If it comes to a "Soylent Green" situation,,, I volunteer the liberals and socialists be entered into the pilot project first!
It would be a great start!!!!!!

This was the progressive ploy in the 60's and 70's too. The push was called Zero Population Growth (ZPG).

The only group that it was successful with was white people. If it was not for immigration the US would have a declining population.

My parents were only going to have one kid... then my dad realized it was progressive BS. Ten years after me, they had one more child on purpose.

My parents lived about 30 minutes from Berkeley in Sonoma county. Several things politically during that time pushed my father back to the Ayn Rand Society.

Only now does what I lived as a child make some sense of what my dad said and did as he pushed back against that progressive movement. From having a second child, removing me from a hippy year round school, to within a year of my brother's birth moving us out of Northern California.

As a native Californian,,, what do think of Prop-3 being on the ballot this year, and why 3 states?!?!?!

I like the idea on one hand because the north is nuts, and the Hollywood wackos can deal with themselves.

It is sad on the other hand because California is truly an amazing state as far as wonderful things to do and experience, and our history. The progressive movement which started in the 60's has destroyed the state, the quality of life, and its future.

Currently, for instance, dozens of the counties in what would be "Southern CA," in the 3 state plan, have passed resolutions or joined Trump's federal lawsuit opposing the California sanctuary law passed last year that places limits on cooperation with federal immigration information requests, with the epicenter of that opposition in Orange County which will be part of "Southern CA."

Without splitting Hollywood out into what will be called "California," there would be no chance for "Southern California" not to be pushed by Los Angeles.

Most of my life there have been discussions about splitting California into two, because it used to be that Southern California was conservative and Northern California was progressive left socialist. (I don't know when Hollywood got so wacky... perhaps they had always been like Jane Fonda... but I thought she was an anomaly at the time of her Hanoi Jane crap. I was too young to know. She was on the forefront I believe.)

If it gets on the ballet as I understand it now, I would definitely vote for it... even while knowing my once wonderful state has been destroyed from within. It is the only way perhaps the southern part will survive and be able to restore some sanity to our governing laws.
