Satan has obviously distracted me in my research on defiling the temple by giving me some other nonsense to deal with. But, when I think of what to wear to church, I'm reminded of the story of the woman who gave a little money compared to the rich man who gave more and Jesus said that her sacrifice was greater because she gave all that she had.
I don't agree with that. If you are wearing your best as am I, then I do not see a difference as in one giving more than another. (if ones best is Goodwill and the other Saks...still does not matter, both are the same. Their best.)
Now I believe the story is correct that someone that gives all they have and another just gives "more" but not all they have, the first one would be sacrificing more.
I worded that badly - it was supposed to be an analogy. The woman, who was poor, gave all that she had. The wealthy man gave only out of their savings. So, if you can't afford clothes, but wear your best, God will honor that and doesn't expect you to go to Saks for a Hugo Boss suit.
Mark 12:42-44: A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which amount to a cent. Calling His disciples to Him, He said to them, "Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the contributors to the treasury; for they all put in out of their surplus, but she, out of her poverty, put in all she owned, all she had to live on."
