American Airlines debuts tiny bathrooms

I was hopeful as the economy became healthy, the airlines would finally quit abusing their customers. Guess not.

I am so glad I haven't needed to travel recently. I used to love travel... now I just end up feeling violated. :nono:

First the seats, then the overhead bins. Now an airline is shrinking something else on board its planes.

The bathrooms. :faint:

American Airlines has debuted a tiny new restroom that is just 24 inches wide. :banghead:

The airline has received complaints from travel bloggers, consumer advocates, and even flight attendants -- but to no avail. :thatsallfolks:

The restrooms are installed on the new Boeing 737-Max airplanes.

I used to fly quite often and it was easy to notice how much smaller they were making the seats so they could add more to planes. It had become quite uncomfortable to fly. I got to where I couldn't stand Delta anymore. Delta will probably make their bathrooms smaller too. Don't be surprised if they only reduce theirs to 26" wide, so they can claim they have larger bathrooms than American.

Can everyone fit in a bathroom that is only 24" wide?

American is also planning to decrease the front-to-back space between some of its economy class seats by another two inches. :whut: Obviously, it will not be an issue for me, but my son is 6'2" and already has no room for his legs. (He has started paying for business class seats on flights over a couple hours due to leg room.) Being that cramped has to be bad on people....

I had pass riding on PanAm back when (ground employee)... flying back then was fun... flying now is not much different than riding a mega-bus... :(
I gave up on flying years ago, have not been to an airport since the winter of 2010... hope I never have to again.
Folks should not put up with being treated like cattle... just to go somewhere.

IMO: quality is more important than quantity... :)

I'm seriously thinking of just taking Amtrak when I can. I rode on the NE corridor between Baltimore and NYC and Coach there was like Business Class on the airlines.

I predict this is gonna backfire on the airlines...
May take a year or so... however this endless 'cattle-car' mentality is not gonna go over well with the public forever.
