...in South Georgia I am convinced that the locust plaque mentioned in Exodus could just as easily be the gnat plague currently in South Georgia. If you've never experienced them I highly recommend it for your bucket list.

My hunting club is in South Ga. One word: Thermocell Best. Invention. Ever.
The only sure way to keep the gnats out of your eyes and away from your face is to...

I remember my brother who moved up to Dahlonega about 30 years ago saying that the 'nat line" was Atlanta. He wanted to live above Atlanta because where we grew up in Waynesboro, nats were bad. I remember going to a fourth of July barbeque and couldn't figure if I was eating well peppered chicken and sauce or knats.
For whatever reason knats and mosquitoes used to be rare up in the mountains but now seems we are below the "knat line".
Yes, thermocells are great for hunting. My daddy wore one every time he went hunting and reminded my brother religiously to wear his. He died of a mosquito infected with West Nile virus in the end.
Lesson, you just never know what might humble a person's particular theories.
I like the lemon eucolyptus combo sprays. They worked well for me since I moved here in the mountains.
However DEETproducts are more effective. They also have on amazon a chemical you can spray on clothing that will deter them for up to 6 washings when sprayed on clothes.

We experienced Gnat Land once when our group was singing in the mountains of east Tennessee. I had never seen anything like it before or since. The air was literally THICK with millions of them
