“We can’t just leave it up to the parents”

Ugh......
Here is what I am ughing....(hee hee, my made up word) the government should not tell us what we should eat. Stay out of my refrigerator! Seriously. On the other hand, holy moly what I have seen some parents feeding their kids. Yes, they are their children, but a daily diet (I am not speaking of the occasional Varsity, McDonalds, treats) of fat, processed foods, and just plain crap shows some do need to be told what is wrong with what they are doing.

Are we doing the new menus yet? I know when my child should have/could have been eating in school he would not because the food was so dang nasty. I served better food to my dog. It has not improved?

Do you not see people feeding their children crap all the time? I am flabbergasted by what my friends "pin" and post they are eating for breakfast, lunch, dinner, daily. :))) I am not talking about the mayo and stuff that is just gross, I am speaking of all the processed/convenience foods, and again, on occasion I understand. The kids want it and we get busy.)

The federal government needs to get out of education, period!! They know influencing minds early make for better followers of their progressive ways. I think we need to fire the federal government and return all education back to the states. Make salaries merit based and competitive as they are in the private sector.

I'm sick of hearing teachers say they know what's best for kids!! Guess where they learned it, in government schools with liberal professors!! Now Michelle Obama knows what's best???

Yes, it's crap. 10 times worse than anything they get at my house and I'd venture worse than McDonald's on most days. :sick

So I am taking that as they have not changed the menus? :))

The princess takes her lunch cause I'm not taking any chances. For lunch today, she's having ham (no bread, she just wants the meat), celery and carrots with ranch dip, apples and grapes and a chocolate chip cookie. And her water bottle.

It's crazy and it seems like that because her school is small, they offer more processed crap than the public schools do (but they also offer a salad option).

Nope. Processed chicken nuggets, hot dogs, frozen pizza, etc.

How can parents possibly do any better than such high quality breakfasts like Froot Loops with a side of processed American "cheese" on white bread toast?

:huh That is what they serve?

Where are these changes that are supposed to have taken place?

The cereal choices that I have seen are all sugary and the cheese toast that goes along with a lot of the breakfasts looks like American "cheese" slices (I'm not brave/stupid enough to taste it to see) melted on white bread toast.
