I never thought while I sat in 7th grade US Studies, or 11th Grade Civics class that my country would be what it is now.
I was naïve enough to believe America would never be a banana republic, or a third world shit hole, or a socialists country... and yet there are forces well beyond normal Americans pushing to take our country into Marxism/communism, and to scrap our Constitutional Republic.
However I am also learning what it is to be a late stage republic...We are in a late stage republic:
In history books you can tell a Late Stage Republic by how the accounting books are handled at a state or federal level.
Early on, a new nation, that is just established, the government officials will monitor, strictly, the money going out... They have to monitor funds coming in and going out.
In a new nation, patriotism is extremely strong, they will frugally watch every dollar that is spent and collected closely. An early stage nation, the people/citizens are watching closely and will vote out a representative voting for a bloated bill or wasting money.
Example: a big fire was raging in Washington D.C.. James Madison was asked to add money to put out the fire for D.C., in a big bill that would pass through congress... He said, "No, I can't ask someone in Tennessee to put out a fire in Washing ton DC... D.C. has to put out its own fire," Taking tax money from another state was rejected soundly.
They knew the citizens would vote them out or rail against them if they used tax money incorrectly.
Late stage republic, there is a general sense among the Elite that, yes, the country is falling apart and burning, and yet the Elite have such means at their disposal to continue, it's not going to be too bad for them, no one is too concerned.
The Elite know they have enough that they will be fine. They don't love their country, or even respect the people of the country. The Nation's elite and elected politicians, instead of strictly monitoring the treasury, they decide it is time to loot the treasury. No patriotism in them any more. They no longer care. They think the country is crumbling anyway, they decide to blood suck every dollar for themself. Turns into a gigantic criminal empire...politicians, lobbyist, various major corporations, the media and entertainment, and the States themselves will all work together to loot the treasury for every dollar they can find.
My history teachers either forgot to teach that, or I don't recall learning it.
Example of public treasury being looted in Late Stage Republic New Jersey used the excuse of Covid relief ... the public treasury was looted for $64 million dollars... They used they excuse of "Covid Releif" to pay Motorola $49,229,301 million for police radios, another $14.5 million was paid to Motorola to improve tele-work capabilities for public employees.
My state is the worst. ANNNNDDDD we just voted back in every politician that raided our treasury and abused us during Covid, mandating lockdowns and deeming certain businesses non-essential ... totally Unconstitutional.
