CNN makes it official: Smollett orchestrated the attack

Well now, I know several friends of a friend who should probably apologise to me, but I'm not going there.

Apologize for what?
One in particular.

All the nastiness and name calling, not to mention the racist remarks from her.

All I said was that I was waiting for all the facts to come out before jumping to conclusions, and I was immediately a bad guy.

Turns out I was right to wait for the facts to come out. Some of your friends could learn a lesson from this; sometimes they are the ones who the hate and racism comes from. This was such a time.

View from the sidelines:

Hmmm...
Here is a viewpoint from a casual observer on the sidelines:

Guy makes an accusation that is full of potential racial issues...
At the moment it looks viable...
And folks line up on both sides of the situation throwing verbal (thankfully only verbal) stuff at the other side...
And HATE and ANGER are stirred up...
Stirred up WITHOUT knowing what happened... just assuming (remember what happens when one assumes)...
Polecats start hollering about it...
Quickly the media jumps on the wagon, as they think they see something they can use to promote their ratings (and in some cases their agendas)...
Predictably, the media jumps on the side of the left's interpretation of the situation. (the MSM, by a large margin, takes the left's side)..
And HATE and ANGER are escalated to a higher level...
As if we do not have more than enough hate and anger already... with the toxic effect and the damage that hate and anger is doing to our society!
But then... (whoops)...
The facts are investigated...
And the truth comes out...
And it turns out the 'actor' (which in this case is correct... the so called victim is indeed a professional actor)...
Appears to have staged the whole thing!

Yet the folks who quickly jumped on the
"RACIST' wagon...
Stirring up MORE hate and anger in society that is suffering from too much hate and anger...
And the news media who quickly took up the WRONG banner...
And the polecats who quickly took the WRONG side...
Have all been proven wrong!

Yet NONE of them are gonna admit it...
And NONE of them are gonna take measures to lower the hate and anger that THEY stirred up...
Hate and anger that is literally DESTROYING our society, lives, and ultimately can destroy our country...
Yes, IMO, apologies are in order... :)

WHY... because when someone humbles themselves to apologize...
They think twice before doing the same dumb thing then next time...
And maybe, just maybe...
We can lower the hate and anger in society...
Which would be a GOOD THING...
Even for the fringe folks who the 'causes' are about!

IMO those apologies would start the healing process that would ultimately lower the hate and anger that is destructive to our society.

Why do these folks not apologize...
That is a question I am not gonna venture into...
However IMO we all know the answer...
Perhaps we are not ready to admit it to ourselves.

Regardless... something needs to be done about the escalation of hate and anger...
Before it destroys us!

OK, this party is over...
Time to move on to the next tidbit of sensationalism the MSM is gonna promote...
Probably WITHOUT first determining whether the side they take is true or a bold faced lie!

And folks wonder why we do not trust the media anymore???

Follow-up...

JawJa had already written this post, and was proof-reading it (good idea when commenting on sensitive issues)...
When the note came in that GD posted.

Sorry if it looks like a follow-up.

However IMO the issue of the hate and anger needs to be addressed...
It has already done significant damage to society...
IMO it really needs to be 'de-escalated'!

By now most of my friends have stopped interacting with you on my posts because they realize no matter how much they explain themselves to you and their position, you simply don't listen. You are not a victim of my friends and they are not racist. With the exception of maybe one or two of my friends everyone has treated you respectfully. The problem is they get frustrated with you. When I first posted this story nobody knew exactly what happened. As of right now nobody knows exactly what happened. Nobody on my post claimed to undoubtedly know what happened. The conversation became about Trump and maga. Which was never my intention. My friends don't need a lesson from you and I think that's pretty much the point of it all. Nobody who expressed compassion or concern for smollet was wrong. Compassion is never wrong.

The conversation turned to Trump and MAGA because some of your friends immediately jumped on the bandwagon blaming that for the aledged attack on Smollet without waiting for all the facts. And then criticized me for not doing the same.

I simply asked them to explain how MAGA was racist, and not one of them could. I asked them to explain how Trump was racist; one of them brought up the issue of one of Trump's properties that has been debunked, and they couldn't support that charge either.

That was not compassion coming from them, it was hate. Your one friend (you know which one), is extremely nasty and hateful, and she slung several racist comments toward me. Now, I know you are a good hearted and compassionate lady, which is one of the things I admire about you. But I don't understand why someone like you who stands against hate and racism tolerates it from some of your friends? Is it because they are black? Hate and racism are never alright, no matter who it comes from or what their skin color is.

They stopped interacting with me because I stopped commenting on any of your threads of that nature. And my reasons for that is in the paragraph above. I like you, but I don't like some of your friends.

BTW, here is one of Smollet's tweets. I'm not seeing the compassion there.

You got mad at a headline that claimed the attackers shouted maga country. You are the one who started that. The reason the headline claimed that is because that's exactly what Jussie told police. It wasn't some liberal conspiracy by the media. Several of my friends tried to explain to you how maga could be interpreted as racist. You don't have to agree with them but they did try. I don't police my friends, I assume most adults can handle themselves and if you don't like a certain person on my feed simply block them. I don't make excuses for anyone who chooses to be disrespectful but at the same time I'm only responsible for myself. You can't play innocent act like you haven't done some instigating of your own. Heck, you did it in this thread by mentioning the fact that my friends should apologize to you knowing that I'm going to read it. Then you suggest to me I give my friends a pass because they're black. Sorry but that makes me a tad angry. Absolutely none of my friends were racist towards you, that's your interpretation because you seem to think anytime someone mentions race it's pulling the race card or being racist. Heck I can't even mention having black friends without you feeling some sort of way about it. Anyway, this is dumb. If you want an apology from my friends look them up and ask them for it. It's not my responsibility. I have to get ready to go to Atlanta and watch marvel superheroes.

I don't want an apology, I just stated that at least one of them should apologize, but I know they won't and I'm fine with that. What's sad is that some of them are actually perpetuating the very racial tensions that they claim to oppose.

I stayed on the high road even though Rebecca didn't. I always do in your threads.

All I said about the headline was that only the liberal publications were presenting it that way, as a MAGA/Trump inspired attack. The more credible sites were being more careful, using terms such as "alleged" and such. Responsible journalists don't play judge and jury, and that's what some of the leftist sites were doing.

As it looks now. the ONLY thing this case has to do with Trump or MAGA is Jussie's own hate for those things. The liberal publications jumped on that hate bandwagon, as did some of your friends. That's not compassion.

I'm sorry for the slow responses, I'm having trouble seeing right now. But that's another issue. :)

BTW, Jen....I've seen Rebecca continue to take pot shots at me in some of your threads. I've just ignored it. That's me being compassionate. :)

Yeah, good luck with that. Nothing short of a full confession will convince some people that it isn't a growing conspiracy now involving CPD as well as racist Trumpsters. I know, completely illogical, but I have already heard it elsewhere.

This is a good example of why I don’t waste my few remaining brain cells with libs and Dems. They don’t need me and I certainly don’t need them. Not worth the effort to attempt reasoning.

My response: Bye Felicia!!!

As I've said many times; Trump is a lot or things, and I have my issues with him. But I see no indication whatsoever that he or his MAGA campaign is racist. That is just part of the left's desperate campaign to turn people against him.

By the numbers, his policies have been great for minorities. They are doing far better under Trump than they have under any other recent administration. Ironically, the Obama administration was not good for minorities, either economically or culturally. Racial tensions rose dramatically under Obama, and I think part of that was by design.

Again, as I've stated many times; any student of history should know that any time a government tries to divide it's people. bad things tend to happen.

Considering how often the story keeps changing most people I know have decided to wait and see but are definitely skeptical. I also find it noteworthy that many of my friends of a different color have been skeptical from the get go. Way before I was.

Regardless of which side of the political fence one is on...
This is good advise!

One more piece of good advise:

NEVER trust any polecat (politician)...
