We don't use the AC, but dang it our heat is out. Guess I'll be getting the heavy blankets out again. :rant
What do you mean you do not use a/c? Ever?
Not needed. Our house is very well shaded, and I grew up w/o a/c so I don't miss it. Put a box fan in the windows, and turn them on medium, and we're good to go. Oh and the energy savings is awesome!!!

Do you ever have humidity or mold problems?
We did in the Garage/basement. Not upstairs.

Cooling the air is only half the job A/C does; humidification is the rest of it. Mold has become a big problem in this area.
I guess we have been lucky then. We haven't had any issues that we're aware of.

So if Blackberry Winter was a couple of weeks ago, what the HECK was this! It's the middle of May for Heaven's sake! :BH

I've discovered that if I put an exhaust fan in the window upstairs, do some strategic curtain pulling, and close off certain rooms, I don't need air conditioning too much, and when I do, the window unit in the living room suffices.

And yes, before you all point out where I live, it does get extremely hot here. North Dakota is a land of extremes (thankfully without humidity).

Humidity is terrible here in Georgia much of the year. Take temps in the high 90's with near 100% humidity, and it's some kind of miserable!

Hoo, law - you done said a mouthful there, mister. Folks who've never lived through a summer in the South just don't know. I'll tell you what's misery - hauling hay (the old rectangle bales) in Georgia in the summer. YOWSA!!! Scratchy, bugs, the occasional snake, heat...Lord, I'm about to faint just thinkin' about it. Somebody get me my smelling salts!
