Trump has competition for the Republican nomination

I’m all for competition. Let’s see who makes it through the gauntlet. It’s like a real life Ninja Warrior course.

You think Trump has made promises to him to have him run because he's jealous of all the attention the Dems are getting bashing each other? This gives him someone to bash too. :)

Trump has NO competition for the Republican nomination

Just wanted to fix your topic title. No thanks needed....I just want to be a blessing

The only reason Trump is so different to everyone is that he actually punches back. How I used to pray for Bush and even Reagan to throw the media and liberal's crap back in their faces, but it rarely ever happened. These people, and sadly still many republicans, still have no idea who Trump's supporters are or why he was elected in a landslide of electoral college votes. I honestly couldn't give a rat's rear end how brazen people think he is. He's getting the job done and running circles around the previous several presidents, republican and democrat alike. Many times, a ship needs a hard turn when its going in the wrong direction and a lot of furniture and plates get thrown around and broken in the process. So be it!

I sure hope so. There's no question that this has caused pain on both sides, so the question of whether or not it was a smart move depends in the eventual outcome.
I'm just guessing, but I think Trump's entire purpose of these tariffs were to force China to negotiate a balanced trade agreement. Face it, China has gotten the better end of the deal in trade for a long time now.

Agreed, and I'm sure that was his plan all along.

A lot of people follow the conventional "wisdom" of not imposing tariffs, and going with free trade instead. And I generally agree with that. But as you correctly stated; "free"trade has often been more free for our trading partners than for us, so we've been getting the raw end of the deal. So something had to be done, and we had to up the ante to get it done. Ultimately, it's a poker game; the winner will be either whoever has the best hand or folds first.

This will determine who wins.

China is getting to the point where they have nothing left to tax, (they can't raise, in poker terms), so unless they want to raise taxes on the grain they import and go hungry, they will be forced to negotiate. At this point China is drawing dead, (another poker term), as Trump could continue to add tariffs to slow their economy, and they dearly need the US buying their goods to maintain their financial requirements. It sounds cruel to starve them, but we have to quit shipping our wealth overseas,,, the transfer must be balanced based on need.
