Thank you Jesus!

LisaC

I'm here to spin the moral compass.
I've just got to give a huge shout out to my Lord and Savior! My dear sweet Aunt and Uncle live in Trussville, Alabama. This morning, a tornado ripped through their subdivision (and their house). They held on for dear life and were uninjured - the house was demolished! Praise God they are safe - stuff can be replaced, those two amazing people cannot!

I'm beyond relieved. They're still really shaken up (duh). The part that really shows me how God was with them - when the storms woke them up, they went to their enclosed porch to see what the noise was, it was too late for them to go to the basement at that point so they just grabbed onto whatever they could and held on. They were literally holding on for dear life as the house was coming apart around them. Had they gotten to the basement, they would have been killed because the floor above crashed down into the basement.

That just gave me goosebumps! Thank God for his protection.

I am so happy your aunt and uncle are safe and you are right, material possessions can be replaced and lives cannot.

I will be praying for your aunt and uncle as they deal with being displaced from their home and finding another. At least they are alive and not injured - God is good!

I have relatives there too. I need to call them.

I'm glad they are okay. Very lucky indeed, all things considered. You're right, stuff is stuff. When something like this happens, you figure out what is really important.

Here's a picture that really hit home with me. This is the front steps going into their house.

I can understand why this would hit home with you - very sad. Do you know if there is anything your Aunt and Uncle need that we can help them with?

Guard Dad you are right about Alabama being hit hard recently. We rode through a little town called Ider, Alabama last summer after the April tornadoes and that place looked like a bomb went off in it.

Praising Him with you, Lisa! I'm amazed they are alive - even more so that they are uninjured! Those are amazing pictures! Your aunt & uncle have quite a story to tell and testimony to share!

Wow! I agree Praise Jesus! They are very lucky. So so glad they are ok! Those pictures are scarey to look at!

Right now, they are staying with my cousin (their daughter) who lives close by. Their son took them over yesterday afternoon (his wife took the pictures) so they could assess the damage and see what was salvageable (not much) and I'm sure they will go back over again today. I've volunteered absolutely anything and everything that I have (including my hubby and friends) to come over and bring food, a generator, chain saws, and any other equipment if they need it. At this point, I think they're probably still in shock and since they're both in their 70s, pretty sore. I saw a FB post from a friend that lives in Birmingham saying that they have set up drop off points around Birmingham for water, cleaning supplies, diapers, etc. I'm going to try to talk to my aunt and uncle tonight to see how things are today and what we can do to help them and others in their neighborhood.

God has reminded me of something very important, it's not about the stuff. So, if something were to happen and it was all blown away, so be it. It's not about WHAT I have, it's about WHO I have left in my life.
