State of Georgia Republicans - Voted for......

Called Bill Heath’s office the lady that answered the phone didn’t know anything about SB150. Left my number but haven’t heard back and doubt that I will.

According to a Bloomberg report, I think the republicans voted yes for this:

Before the final vote Wednesday, two dozen moderate Democrats joined Republicans in adding an amendment requiring that immigration authorities be notified when an undocumented immigrant tries to buy a firearm. The surprise defection caught the Democratic leadership off guard and elicited cheers from Republicans in the chamber.

I'm in favor of completed background checks any time a gun permanently changes hands.

This goes too far. It denies weapon possession for all misdemeanor domestic violence. We all know someone who got drunk with their spouse and may have gotten into a mutual shoving match or something just as stupid. Also, often when police intervene in any domestic situation, somebody is going to be charged just to separate the parties. This is overreach. I'm for a ban on abusers having a firearm, but this sounds like too much.

Tricky situation...

While I prefer the 'original intentions' approach to Constitutional things...
And I prefer the first to be wide open...
With the second being no compromise!

There are too many nut-cases out there...
Until we get 'the rule of law' back in place (you do the crime, you do the time... NO exceptions)
I kinda like the idea of a state vetting before a carry permit is issued... and if a person does not have a carry permit, they should really not be carrying concealed or open. This does depend on GA remaining a 'shall issue' state... rather than change to a 'may issue' state. IMO as long as GaCarry.org is viable... that change probably will not happen.
Yeah, it is not theoretically Constitutional...
However in practice...
How many folks with a current GWL... have committed a firearms crime???
Yeah... that is a simple answer... :)

The GWL does one thing... it vets folks...
Which in a society where nut-cases are allowed to roam free...
May not be a bad thing.

Tricky situation... :)
