Say NO to self-check

I refuse to check out at stores without a cashier....Why do some retailers want you to use a checkout line with no cashier? Home Depot, Walmart, Kroger, Ingles, etc...

I get so aggravated at the long lines at Walmart and because of the lack of cashiers, I now avoid that place. My son has gotten me hooked on Amazon. You can literally buy just about anything and have it delivered to your front door. Now I know folks are funny about buying shoes or pants online, but for everything else, Amazon is now my friend.

The Walmart where I live has self-checkout, but they always have at least 3-4 cashiers working as well. I often use self-checkout because it's faster and I'm not in there getting a lot of stuff. What I do find irritating is those with a full buggy of items using self-checkout, when it really should be used as an express area for those buying a few items.

I usually prefer self-checkout, or at least the good ones. I can usually get out faster and with less hassle.

I love the ones at Home Depot and Sam's. The ones at Walmart stink. Not to mention you usually get behind some illiterate person trying to figure it out, and then they want to pay using 12 debit cards, each one with $5 in the account.

I'm right there with you!!! Use that system too much, and they'll have you out back unloading trucks for them... now if they offer a 5% discount for self checkout,,, and I need to save some money, I might take my chances. Until then, there is no financial advantage to self checkout other than to the retailer!!!

I dislike self check out because if you have 7 of one item, or 12, or 20 ... you must ring each one separately.

Last week I asked a grocery store employee if there was a way to tell it "7" of one item? The lady replied no, that is the way they make sure you are not stealing anything.

Since it is by weight, why is it not smart enough to know 7 of my items weigh 7 times what one item weighs?

Since I seldom just buy one of anything, because I hate to shop, self checkout is necessarily a painful experience each time I subject myself to it.

Now I know how older people felt when we switched to ATM machines and stopped using checks. I just want a trained person who can check me out...

I like self check since they pretty much fixed the "unexpected item in bagging area" and "please place item in bagging area" crap. I used to slam stuff down into the bag and still get into an argument with a machine.

I have been in home depot and the only line open was the self checkout. I leave and leave stuff setting in the line where there should have been a cashier.
When that happens to me, I hand my purchase to the attendant at self check and let them do it. I put my credit card in, they bag it and give me a receipt,,, I call that a victory, especially if they touch the touch screen, and that another thing,,, those nasty touch screens that God knows who touched right after picking their nose or coughing/sneezing into their hand. Nay, Nay, Nay, if you want to catch TB from an undocumented alien, you go ahead, but not me!!!!!
