Say it isn't so.....

Pursuit Driver
This global warming stuff is getting out of control.

Of course I think the sun and it's lack of sunspots will cause more cooling... like the Maunder minimum that occured from 1645 to 1715 during which sunspots became exceedingly rare, as was then noted by solar observers. Also our elliptical journey around the sun has a little wobble that places us further from the sun at times... the stuff that explains ice ages... unlike the algore global warming crap.

Montana just endured one of the nation's most exceptional cold spells on record
These places are normally cold but this chill was unlike anything seen in the contiguous United States in decades, for both its intensity and its duration.

The February temperature departures from normal were stunning. Several major climate locations averaged 27 to 28 degrees below normal, which were the most extreme in the Lower 48 for a full month since January 1969, according to Alaska-based climatologist Brian Brettschneider.

Great Falls, Montana, was at the heart of it. The mercury didn't rise above zero on 11 days and dropped to zero or below on 24 nights. Only the first day of the month topped freezing. Its average February temperature finished 27.5 degrees below normal.
<snip>
A number of places saw one of their top five coldest Februaries there, including Minot, Bowman and Williston. Fargo has now had 62 days in a row with temperatures at or below freezing through Sunday, which is eighth longest on record for that city.

I guess is has to get cold before it gets hot. At least that'll be the next push.
It will be interesting how they spin this past year.

Over the last 100 years, the temperature of the Earth has warmed about 1 degree.

Interestingly, from 1998 to 2012, warming ceased. It did start back up, but I suspect the last year will show some significant change and skew their numbers.

Ya know...

Polecats blowing smoke is kinda like an addiction...

It takes MORE smoke to continue to fool the masses over time...
Yet the masses, even when they see the light... come back to the smoke... because it is familiar and comfortable...

Sad situation indeed!

Weather is weather, climate is climate, and never the Twain shall meet. This is true whether you are using a bad hurricane to "prove" AGW or a snow storm to disprove it. It is only over extended periods of several decades that combined weather events become climate.

I am becoming more and more convinced by better and better evidence that AGW is a thing. I remain unconvinced as to the percentage that is caused by human activity and the dire consequences and scare tactics used by those who stand to gain from a drastic reduction in the human production of carbon and methene aerosols.

I see politicians using worse case scenario hypothesis as fact. I see scientists and politicians alike proposing only single action responses as the "only cure". I see the complete discounting of nuclear as an energy alternative. I see governments actively denying research grants to alternative responses like geo and civil engineering. I see monetary redistribution, reparations if you will, being called a remedial action. In short, I see good science being used for political gain.

That does not mean that the science is invalidated, only that the response is.

We are warming at a climate level, the burning of fossil fuels is a significant contributor, and beyond that is where the train goes off the rails.

Wait! I thought cow farts was causing it?

I would agree with that statement. Climate changes over time, meaning sometimes warmer and sometimes cooler (that doesn't take a degree in rocket science to figure out). At the moment it appears to be warming although by minimal amounts, it has been hot in Georgia and Alabama for as long as I can remember. Eventually, I have no doubt the trend will reverse as we experience a cooling down period. I accept that but I will never be convinced that mankind is responsible for the changes, and more importantly, can do a dang thing about it.
