I think I would like e-books, but currently don't have an e-book reader. If I go with a certain publisher, they first release the novel in e-book form at a price of $5.99....not too bad a price I don't think.

After 120 days, it comes out in paperback, for folks like me who haven't moved into the 21st century (That's about $14.00). If you don't read, I reckon you don't count? :p But if you do, which form do you prefer?

I didn't see a braille option

It's only because I couldn't find the 3D Bumps button :p

I used to tell Mrs. Reacher that those little bumps in the middle of the road were Braille Bumps for blind drivers 8)

I hate e-readers. Preference is hardback.

I use all the options. I have nearly 1000 books of both hardcover and paperback style. I also bought a Kindle over the summer and really like reading on that. It's a very readable screen and feels like a real book.

I'm with Waski. I PREFER hardback books. I love books. I love books of all kinds, shapes, sizes, colors, and topics. I LOVE BOOKS. And I'm a purist, so I love me a hardback book.

But I have a Kindle (actually, my mom has one and I snatch it from time to time), and I've read a LOT of books on there. I've downloaded about 1500 books for her on it, and it's still not anywhere near full. That's a LOT of books of all kinds (mostly free) to carry with you on vaca or wherever.

Mei Lan & Waski - As a huge fellow reader of books how do you like an e-reader? I mean literally how. I am a curl up and read type of person. I just do not get the same "feel" from it. The weight, the turning the pages, are just not there. I feel more like I am working (computer/smart phone) instead of relaxing with a good book. I have tried the Kindle, Nook, and a no big brand reader and just cannot get the right feel. I will agree that for travel, you can not beat having it with you. Hundreds of books, one little reader, but other than travel I just have had a hard time with them.

Guess I am the first one voting e-book.

I bought Mrs. Mac one several months ago. She does a fair amount of traveling, and the weight and space occupied by books was weighing on her. :taunt

Anyway, she loved it so much I started looking into them. I seldom have time to read these days, except for my funnies in the morning. I bought a small one to use while riding the bike at the gym.

I LOVE it!

It gives me a chance to read, it is easy to handle and tote around. And I've found several sources for free books.

SD, I can relate to the enjoyment of curling up with a good book. I just don't have the time these days. The e-book gives me a chance to relax my mind. Plus, mine plays MP3's so I have some tunes to listen to while reading!

I can see that too. A regular book would be a bit awkward to hold. :))

I wish I did not have so much time. Mine is usually between midnight and 2 or 4-6. I don't sleep much. :huh

I noticed that about your sleep, you have some pretty interesting posting times! :sleep

Mine has a 5" screen. Not quite as large as most of the readers, but larger than the run of the mill smart phone. It is just right for use while riding the bike.

I'm surprised I hadn't thought of that...That's a GREAT idea for the gym. I don't have one yet, but will probably buy one or ask for it as a Christmas gift. One of the reasons I ask is because if I go with a certain publisher, they release it on e-book for the first 120 days, then it goes to paperback.

I curl up exactly the same way I would with a regular book. I get lost in whatever I'm reading, so other than the mechanics of which button to push and the occasional times it gets hung up, it really doesn't bother me all that much. I'd still be reading a real hardback book with paper pages, though.

I voted paperback because I only trade with used book stores now. Paperbacks are cheaper and I don't feel like I'm losing any money if I trade it in. I don't care for e-readers because I have to use a real bookmark. I collect handmade bookmarks, and I use a different one with every book I read (mostly my own).

I'm not a big reader, but ever since my mom gave me her old Nook, I find myself reading a whole lot more. It was perfect to bring with me to baseball practices and gymnastics. The kids enjoy reading on it too. It is just a lot more convenient for us....except when more than one of us want to read at the same time. :)

I hold my Kindle just like I would a "real" book. It's light and comfortable to hold. In fact, it's lighter than many of my books, and I don't have to hold it open.

The main appeal with books is their appearance, shelving them, and something about their feel.

Like I said, I have used a kindle, nook , and no name brand. Nothing like holding a real book at all. I can not hold it the same, (it is lighter, obviously) and I do not like the "pages."
I guess I am just a die hard book lover.
