Psycho GF drives boy to commit suicide - GUILTY!

Ok, I was wrong. She actually is going to serve some time...albeit a token amount. I still say she’s evil, vile, and disgusting but didn’t kill the guy.

I absolutely agree. The girl ain't right... In a way it is surprising she did not get absolved due to being mentally incompetent.

From the article: At the time, Carter was 17 and about a month out of a psychiatric hospital.

Carter's lawyer had urged the judge to allow the young woman to stay out of jail while they take her case to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Her attorneys said in court documents that she has no prior criminal record, hasn't tried to flee, and has been receiving mental health treatment.
But a judge ruled on Monday that she should start her sentence.

I was torn on this. She has free speech and he had free will. But the more evidence I heard I came to believe this is a special circumstance that was related to battered woman syndrome. She seemed to have over the course of their relationship developed tremendous power over him, and she used that power to end his life. It is rare that I will ever believe that words can cause physical harm, but this is one of those times. This is not the same as a stranger telling a jumper to go for it.

Well that ought to stop her from being a sociopath....:tapfoot2: Not even a full year. Wonder what she will do for fun next time?

Michelle Carter, Who Encouraged Her Boyfriend To Kill Himself, Was Released From Prison Early
Carter, now 23, was released from the women’s center at the Bristol County House of Corrections after serving only around 11 months of her 15-month prison sentence. She was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2017 for the death of 18-year-old Conrad Roy in a headline-grabbing case that caught the world's attention.

Carter earned enough “good time” to be released early, Jonathan Darling, a spokesperson for the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office, said in a statement.

While I still don't like her type and what she represents, he ultimately made the decision to end his life. She was not even physically present, he made the choice while alternative options were available. Unless he was medically documented as having special needs, was under the influence of a substance, or was misdiagnosed before she influenced him, the final decision was his. We will never know his thoughts but while it's not socially acceptable I'm not sure it's a crime to "not prevent" a death. It's a strange story complete with evil and desperation. She will reap her due reward in time.
