My sister\'s wedding

Well we are home from our week in CA. We went out there for my baby sister's wedding. It was the most interesting wedding I have ever been to. She married a Serbian in a Serbian Orthodox Church. The service was about an hour, which I found out is actually a shortened version of a typical Serbian Orthodox wedding. The service was in both English and Serbian. It was really symbolic with a lot of rituals like tying their hands and them walking around in a circle around a table with the Bible and the crowns on it. It was really cool to see, but my feet were killing me when we were finally done. The wedding was at noon and the reception didn't end until midnight. Those Serbians seriously know how to party!

How cool!! Nice they went for a lot of the Serbian traditions. Were there many members of his family there???

PS, glad you make it back safe. :D

There were about 270 people at the reception (it is typical for them to go to just the reception) and I would say that at least 150-200 of them were Serbian and spoke only Serbian. He did have a few people fly in from Serbia, but most of the family lives in the States now.

Very cool. I have never been to a Serbian wedding.

Most weddings I have gone to run about an hour, except for the few I have been to right here. LOL The first one I went to that was so fast I actually asked my husband what happened that they shortened it. :))

Glad you enjoyed yourself & made it home safe.

Glad you made it back safely and had a good time! Just curious......did the people from Serbia do the traditional "electric slide" at the reception? :)

Haha! No electric slide at this wedding. They had both an American DJ and a Serbian band that alternated every hour.

Sounds like fun! Glad you had a good time and made it back home safely.

Psst! How were the shoes? :D
