Mare Stare Foal Cam

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! I love those things. I watched some baby donkeys one year for the longest time...they were beyond adorable.

My parents raised cows (pigs early on and then the market dropped and they switched to cows) when we were growing up, and I've seen many a calf just after birth. But one day, this cow was in the pasture up by the house (Daddy had her up there separated from the others so he could keep an eye on her for some reason). So anyhoo, I was home alone that summer evening (I LOVE quiet summer evenings!) and I could see her contractions start. So I just watched, and she was just walking along munching on grass like they do, and she'd sort of stand still when a contraction hit, but otherwise she seemed fine. So the little guy came out feet first and then his little head, and she's walking along eating and he's swinging back and forth as she walks all helpless-like. And after that, every time a contraction hit, he would moo, as if he were saying, "OWWWW!" Which he prolly was. :D So he finally dropped, and she stopped her eating and tended to him. Beautiful. :wipingatearaway:

He's so cute and so little.

Apparently they'll put the camera on a different mare when they have one closer to foaling.
