Local TV news

Why is it the first few minutes of the local news stations is about murder, robbery, car-jacking, rape or protest? I mean there's no positive news lately. Every newscast from the early morning, noon & evening news leads off with the latest shooting. We do get an occasional traffic report or crooked politician scandal, but violence is top story every time. Metro Atlanta seems to be a shooting gallery.

I've watched Channel 2, 5, 11, & 46 and they're all pretty much the same.

We stopped watching local news years ago for many of the same reasons you listed as well as others, such as them being a mouthpiece to push the national, democrat, and liberal issues. Ain't nobody got no time for dat.

Don't watch local news or tv. If it ain't on the internet we don't watch. Local news is only
what the ccp wants you to know.

There are no "local" TV news channels near White County. The closest is in Atlanta, and nothing that happens in that metro area concerns or interests us. We get far more local news on the Internet.

Sensationalism sells.

News is no longer a service provided, it's big business. This started with the advent of the 24 hour news station, and they had to figure out how to hold and entertain viewers so they could sell ad time.

I don't watch any local news, and very little news on the TV at all. I get most of my news from the internet, and though I frequent FOX News, I go to a whole bunch of sites, some from other countries.

The local news we tend to watch is pretty spread on good/bad news. The national news .. all bad until the last 5 minutes, then always a warm feel good story. Getting to be like Hallmark movies, so predictable

There aren't any. All of them to include the conservative news outlets are just as bad. Too often the headline and the news story don't match.

The old saying in every newsroom was "If it bleeds, it leads". I refuse to watch any form of local tv anymore, and I usually shy away from the major networks as well, there isn't any objective news being broadcast these days.
