This position provides support to the Judge by reviewing cases, drafting orders, and providing legal advice.
Main Duties:
- Drafting orders from hearings.
- Staying current with case law, policy changes, relevant legislation, and best practices related to Juvenile Court.
- May advise court action in delinquent, dependency, and custody cases.
- Conducts specific research and advises the Court during trials and hearings, as required.
- Maintains efficient workflow of cases by reviewing and prioritizing files consistent with the statutory timeframes and coordinating hearings, as needed.
- Reviews pleadings/filings for compliance with applicable law.
- Provides support for various motions; drafts memoranda; drafts pro se filing forms/packets, etc.
- Coordinates communications between judges and attorneys regarding cases; contacts attorneys to schedule telephone conferences; participates in pre-trial telephone conferences as needed; drafts correspondence to attorneys.
- Performs related duties.
