Jobless claims rise to highest level in 2022

Went to Steak and Shake in Acworth for the first time in a long time for lunch today.

We found they have gone to a server-less model. You order from the kiosk when you enter, they drop off your cups and you fill them yourselves as the filling station and pick up your condiments. Then they drop your food off at the table and that's it. You clean up yourself too.

It's pretty much a McDonald's with an ice cream machine that works.

I think they had two people in the entire store. A lot fewer jobs.

A 40 year staple, Scalini's, has closed. What a great little restaurant it was. Rumor is that they could no longer maintain enough workers to continue adequate service. Now whether or not that's true I can't say but it's the common belief. Let me know if you've heard differently.

They are struggling to stay alive

The last two times we went to S&S, you could not get a shake! You could order it, but it never came. Finally the manager told customers to quit complaining,,, that he didn't want to hear it.
