I hate renting

Yes, I know hate is not a pretty word.

Mrs. Mac has been here since last Fall. I arrived mid_March. We've since made two discoveries:

1. The sound insulation for both walls and between floors is poor at best. This has been confirmed by a couple of folks I see in the little gym they have here.

2. The lady upstairs works nights doing her own little business. The baby daddy travels a lot.

Tuesday night, the woman was up walking around about 1:30AM. This kept up until about 4AM.

Last night, I heard walking and items being moved around starting at 12:30AM. This kept up, and actually got worse around 3:30-4AM. Then about 4:15, the bed starts to creak in a rhythmic fashion - take note further in my story. Luckily, Mrs. Mac slept through most of it, until the bed creaking. Said bed is apparently directly over where we sleep.

This afternoon, I decided to have a friendly (not being sarcastic) chat with the neighbors. Went up, knocked, waited a few minutes, and a gentleman answers the door. With boxers on, and a towel draped across his shoulder. Tells me they are trying to stay quiet, some of the steps they have taken, and that he got in about 4AM - after being on the road for about 3 weeks.

So, now we know why the bed was creaking. And, about 3 weeks ago, we had another all night night session - with bed creaking. Last time, it lasted for nearly an hour. This morning, only about 20 minutes.

Yes, I am so ready to get out of here.

Ugh... I'm sorry you're having to deal with this.

I've only lived in one apt and basically my neighbors were OK, except for one family that moved in upstairs. It was a one bedroom apt, so after putting up with their inconsiderate noise for a while I finally got sick of it...specially when their 8 yr old son decided he was a Harlem Globetrotter at 2:00 in the morning when they left him home alone one night, and reported them to the mgmt office. They were gone in a month. I hated doing that because I knew they didn't have a lot of money, but if they'd been more considerate of me living underneath them I'd have kept my mouth shut.

I feel for ya dude, went through the same crap many years ago before we were home owners. That's partly why I hate apartments to this day. Have you asked the landlord to relocate you to another apartment? You might suggest that you will make a case that they're in breach of contract if they don't.

GD, nah we would be considered "short-timers." We are scheduled to be out of here by the middle of May, although based on the house situation we may try to extend that a few weeks.

It will be great to be in a house again!

I hate being a Landlord :D But all kidding aside, I feel your pain I had a neighbor from hell when I rented years ago in VA. And uhhh hearing the bed rock above your head that is the worst : X Well that and them flooding my apt.

Well DR, looks like I get to be one. Just found out that my old house has some prospective tenants. Should be moving in around June 1. Because I'm up here in Music City, I signed on a property management company to take care of things. I prefer to do it myself, but can't deal with the long distance involved.

Still waiting to hear about our offer on the short sale. Then we get to have fun dealing with mortgage companies. yay ...
