Trump suddenly decides not to run in 2020. Who do you want to see run as the Republican in the general election? Who do you think would have the best chance against the Democrats? These can be two different people.

Me:

Favorite Ben Sasse

Likely to win Romney

Wish I knew more about the Republican governors who might consider a run.

Want to run: I like the Sasse pick. Nikki Haley is another.

Would win: Not sure on this one. Romney would probably win if he's running against Biden but I'm not so sure if against one of the others. Pence is too boring and too connected to Trump but isn't Trump. Nikki Haley would win, I think. Condi Rice would win in a landslide I think.

Gary Busey...Hands Down!

All joking aside I do like Nikki Haley. I'm not calling Trump a king maker, but I do believe his backing of a candidate will go along away and I believe Trump would back Nikki Haley. As thin skinned as Trump has been with a few folks, I'm not sure he would back Sasse or Romney.... AND I think Pence is about as charismatic as a box of crackers.

Nikki Haley would indeed be a good choice. One of the few I could actually vote FOR, instead of voting against her opponent.

Nikki Haley as well.

I would also support Cruz again as I thing he would be a great president, but he wasn't a very good candidate last time.

I always thought that Pence was good for Trump. While Trump is very colorful and excitable, he seemed to create a balance by toning things down a bit. He has a very professional and calm manner. Acts very "Presidential". As Trumps side man, I think it has worked out very well, but whether he would be successful on his own, I just don't know.

I agree. Great guy, just not sure he has the charisma to win on his own.

Whetehr we like it or not, charisma plays a big role in getting elected.

Oh,, Joe Walsh from Illinois,,, I thought you meant Joe Walsh from the 'Eagles',,, Damn, that was a close one!!!!!!
THAT Joe Walsh ran in 1980 promising to make "Life's been good" the new national anthem. He also promised free gas to everyone who voted for him. When informed by letter that he couldn't pay people to vote for him by the Federal Elections Commission, he changed it to "free gas for everyone". He also reminded them that he was only 33 years old.
