Homestead Drive SSO Statement 12152021

On December 15, 2021 the Collections Crew were notified of a possible overflow at Homestead Drive. At 8:30 a.m. it was determined that the force main that runs from Somerset Lift Station to the gravity line on Homestead Drive was causing an overflow. It is believed that a bad pipe is the cause of the spill. At 1:00 p.m. the overflow was stopped. Somerset Lift Station was turned off. A pump truck is being utilized to pump Somerset and the receiving manhole across from Somerset Drive until new piping can be run. A contractor has already been hired to replace the pipe from the receiving manhole to the manhole on Homestead Drive. It is estimated that 4500 gallons of untreated water came out of the manhole on Homestead Drive, down the road and into a storm drain that leads to Pickets Mill Creek.

As all this developer installed stuff from the 1990s and early 2000s continues to age I suspect we will see more and more of this.

A team spent a long time and much tractor work putting in new piping off of Harmony Grove Church Road for one of the subdivision lines earlier this month.
