Home made Christmas

I've been planning some of the Christmas gifts I'm making this year. I'll be making some monogrammed candles for sure, but trying to figure out what else I want to make.

Anybody else making some of their gifts this year?

hey Deewee. I am a cross stitch designer and also I love antique samplers. I had hoped to make an ornament or two but the holidays has slipped up on us. I still have time but yes, I have hopes to make some gifts. I saw some recipe jars that I want to make for co workers that are really cool and I have a couple of small cross stitch things to make as well.

I love homemade gifts. I think they are the best. I so wish I could knit! I went to one class 2 years ago, came home and forgot how to undo a mistake and so I put it down confused. I want to make Foxmeister a nice scarf real bad. (in manly colors.... ;D

Anybody knit or stitch?

I never make my own, but I do go places that sell homemade crafts/soaps/art. I do like to buy and give those.
If I can't make sonething, I try to find a person who can make what I want for me too.

:thumbsup

I tried knitting, but after crocheting for so many years, I found that my brain would not cooperate on changing up my yarn game...lol.

I used to love cross stitching but haven't done much of anything since I started wearing glasses. Now days I like BIG projects that don't cause much eye strain. It's a shame cuz I used to love sewing by hand, instead of machine.

Glad you're crafty too and welcome to the Hwy!!! :hug

I've only heard Good things about you, Deewee.
Yes, I'm visually impaired. I have glaucoma in my left eye from a trauma years ago, just found out 2 years ago, but I use a big magnifier but it did slow me down.
That's another reason I think knitting or crocheting would be cool. I crocheted a huge square 20 years ago after a friend started it.
I do think crocheting is easier but I would need some help starting that too. It's one of my goals this Winter to try to crochet or knit.

Once you get the hang of it, you can crochet without watching your hands and the yarn closely. It's very relaxing too, depending on the skill level of the project.

I'm glad you're here and it's gonna be great getting to know you. :love

Homemade gifts are awesome!! Going to be Christmas lite for us this year, handmade/homecooked stuff is all I can do. :(

I like a simple Christmas. I for years made the mistake for my kids to buy them large amounts of stuff each until they were 22 or more years of age, I stopped that. I look back and wish I had not but what is done is done. I personally think homemade gifts mean more. I can remember when that's all we could do as my family was not rich at all. We struggled. That's how I learned to first cross stitch.
My friend taught me how and since then my love has expanded to designing myself. It was a great way to give gifts to my friends then.

:)
