High School Football Scores

I guess Go Bama, Roll Tide Roll is out of the question?

Gotta love 'Bama football.

We always watch the Iron Bowl.... good stuff.

Folks out west really don't appreciate the rivalry games like they do in the SEC & the Big10.
( RedRiver Shootout notwithstanding)

That being said, U of A / ASU has a lot of bad blood between the two programs. So much so that the game had to be moved to Thanksgiving weekend in an attempt to temper the violence between the student fan bases.

My late father-in-law's favorite line was: "My two favorite Teams are Alabama and whoever the hell is playing Notre Dame!"
GT vs ND. 1980. Curry was the "coach" and was leading the Jackets to the worst record in their history. Notre Dame was #1.

Tech dogged them to a 3-3 tie and the goal posts came down. I was there on the field and still have a fleck of rusty paint from those goal posts. That season was almost worth it to get that one tie. That's how much I hate Notre Dame.

It seems each day they find an athlete who tests positive.

Even the horse races have had outbreaks. A jockey tested positive with corona here in San Diego... The jockey had a very mild case it seems. Part of me wonders if the tests are correct, they say there have been problems with the tests.

Hall of Fame jockey Victor Espinoza has tested positive for the coronavirus, according to his agent Brian Beach. Espinoza is the third high-profile jockey to test positive in the last few days. Martin Garcia announced he was positive as did Luis Saez, who was tested at Keeneland.

Espinoza, Garcia and Saez rode at Los Alamitos over the weekend. Garcia had been riding in the Midwest, winning the Iowa Derby at Prairie Meadows. Saez recently raced at Belmont Park, Indiana Downs and Keeneland.

Beach said that Espinoza learned of the results Friday night after he was taken off his mounts at Del Mar as a precaution. He was tested Thursday in Orange County but because of a machine malfunction had to be retested in La Jolla on Friday.

“He had some flu-like symptoms early in the week but was feeling much better but decided to get the test just to be safe after hearing the Martin Garcia news,” Beach said in a text to The Times.

As long as he had it and was getting better, I'm fine. The big question is whether the Covid came after the flu, and whether you ever really get over it and are subject to relapse like shingles or a cold. I would really like to hear about people who have had it and recovered, and what those numbers look like.

Likely ‘false positive’ COVID-19 test cost NASCAR’s Jimmie Johnson part of his legacy

Three days later, however, Johnson took another coronavirus test and it turned up negative, leaving him confused and aggravated because now he isn’t sure he or his wife ever really had it or carried it.

“There’s a lot of speculation there. I’m the most frustrated person out there, especially living in a world of facts that we do. To not have the facts drives me bananas,” he said, The AP reported in a separate story.

Prior to the race at the historic Indianapolis venue, Johnson had a streak of 663 consecutive starts, which was the longest among active drivers. After two negative tests last week, he was cleared to race at the Kentucky Speedway on Sunday.

A study that was published last month in the journal Nature Medicine found that nearly half of all people who were positive for the virus were infected by someone who was not exhibiting any symptoms. Researchers also found that nearly 80 percent of middle school kids and teenagers show no symptoms at all.

Scientists said that asymptomatic cases are problematic because those people could contribute to the “silent spread” of the disease. But then again, even so, the vast majority of people under the age of 70 are not going to suffer at all or will only experience mild symptoms.

Then, of course, there is the concern over potential false positives, as apparently happened in Johnson’s case.

But his isn’t the only one. Earlier this month, PGA golfer Cameron Champ missed a match after testing positive for the virus, only to test negative three subsequent times, CNBC reported.
