I just finished vacuuming ours and we had our first water sample ran for the year. It should be clean and ready this week if anyone wants to swim in 67 degree water.

And I just installed my 3rd gen A/C Pool heater. This one actually uses hot gas solenoids to completely switch between air coil and water coil. Working great!!

Basically, I have two condensers for my A/C; the standard air cooled coil and a water cooled condenser. An electronic temp control and solenoid valves switch between the two as needed to control the pool temp. Until the pool gets up to the preset temp, the A/C uses the water cooled condenser, and the pool pump circulates pool water through it to cool the hot gas from the compressor. That, in turn, heats the pool water, and for free. I have a 4-ton A/C unit, so that's roughly 48,000 BTU of heat being put into the pool.

Once the outside temp gets into the 80s and the A/C is running a considerable amount, this alone will keep my pool nice and warm. Since I swim late at night, I like it 88-90 degrees.

I've been doing this for years, but the latest incarnation is an improved and refined design.
