Grocery Store - VENT

I think the other problem with selfcheck is the set up does not work.

When there is a cashier, you put your stuff on the belt as they ring it up making it more efficient, then they have a large area on the same level as the item scanned often with a second belt, then it can be bagged it.

The self check, there is no belt, and the small area to put the items rung is not large enough if you have a full cart. The cart won't be empty, but you need to move what is already rung up.

The early self checkouts were pretty bad. WalMart's are still not very good.

But some are much better. Home Depot just got new ones that are awesome!

Back to Mickey Dees..one of the companies they recently purchased is an Artificial Intelligence outfit. Their automated drive-thrus that are coming will automatically recognize different languages and even various accents and dialects, and then respond accordingly with both verbal and text.

It might even speak redneck.

The self-checkout at most stores aren't there for people with buggies full of groceries. The intent was to use them for express checkout; those with 10 items or less and that's why they are small.

Correct, yet now when there is one checker, obviously they intend for everyone, no matter how much in the cart, to check themselves out.

I have left many full carts when there is no one to check me out. There were people when I went in, but when I am ready to check out no one but the person watching the self checkout. So frustrating.

I'll stick to Costco which ironically in San Diego do not have self check out because they are so busy...

The new self checkout section at the Dallas Walmart has some much bigger check out areas for those that do have a decent amount of stuff to buy. It is so much better than it used to be.
