GOP memo outlines party's plan to defend Trump ahead of public hearings

It looks like there was a quid pro quo. The remaining questions are who is responsible and does it rise to the level of impeachment.

The Ukrainians never conducted the investigation Trump requested; therefor there can't be any quid pro quo.

The reality is that some of the stuff the Democrats has done, including their divisiveness, is far more damaging to this country than Trump's conversation with Ukraine.

Agreed but that alone isn't a reason to ignore his actions. I'm not saying he's guilty of anything or should be removed from office. I don't think that at all. I do think he tried to pressure Ukraine for political reasons but I would be more surprised if he didn't (meaning probably every politician would or has done similar).

I agree, but I'm also not convinced that it's a quid pro quo. Honestly, it seems pretty tame compared to the normal goings on from Washington. Not that I'm condoning that, but the Democrats are clearly picking and choosing what they want to be outraged about. Why doesn't the Biden mess at least rise to this level? What about the millions Obama sent to Israel to try and overthrow Netanyahu? I could go on.

There's a whole lot of rotten going on there and it needs to be cleaned up. But do so in a consistent manner.

In all honesty, I don't think Trump is really worried about any Democratic challenger. The transcript of the call shows no attempt at quid pro quo; even the Ukrainian president says there was none.

Playing devil's advocate here....

If Biden was not a candidate for president, would this have been a quid pro quo or potentially a national security request? The latter well within the President's authority, BTW.

If Al Capone had only declared he was running for President, he could have avoided those nasty income tax investigations.

It's the phone call where the whistle-blower says Trump threatened to withhold the money if Ukraine did not investigate the Biden deal.

The claims from the whistle-blower aren't the only things being investigated. If it were, the investigation would last about 20 minutes and be over with by now. The phone call was just one part of the entire attempted quid pro quo (or so it appears).

I’m open minded and letting it play out...I ain’t skerd. I predict it will get interesting.
