Good third party candidates?

Who would be a good third party candidate to jump in the race at some point? Given that both Hillary's and Trump's negatives are so high, assuming they both win their nominations, it's possible that a third party or independent candidate (or multiple) could jump in the race. So, who would be a good one?

There has been talk of Bloomberg jumping in. Some have speculated that Romney may as well since he hasn't endorsed anyone yet. Who else and why?

Yes, I understand it'll be hard for someone new to get in at this point. Yes, I understand if a conservative jumped in it would likely means Hillary wins. That's not what I'm asking about here...just who and why.

I'm sure many here don't like him, but Gingrich. One of the most intelligent men I've ever met. He knows his History like nobody's business. When he was Speaker, I would meet the Capitol Police at McCollum Airport and ride with them to his Marietta Office. I've also had the privilege of attending events and interviews with him to provide security. Very personable, well-spoken and smart.

With that being said, I don't believe the republican establishment will go for the 3rd party run. They want total control over their candidate. I heard yesterday that Cruz and Rubio may (some have suggested anyway) form the old Reagan-Bush coalition after today. In other words, whoever comes in 3rd would agree to run as VP for the 2nd place winner. That might actually work and might be the only way they defeat Trump. If their egos get in the way and they don't make that agreement, it might be all over with.

I wish. But unless it's someone extremely high profile and with a lot of money or the backing of people with a lot of money; the statistical possibility of them winning is next to zero.

The electoral system is designed around a two-party system. That can be both good and bad, but given how much the two main parties suck now; it's become a problem.

At this point Pat Paulsen has a shot and he has been dead for 20 years.
