Gov. Nathan Deal signed a handful of bills last month, which includes a system that grades schools based on student performance -- with the ultimate goal of financially rewarding schools for improving student performance.

Personally, I think student performance should be taken into account when evaluating a teacher or a school. I know there are going to be some circumstances where there are problem students, but when something goes wrong and a kid manages to get through school and can barely read or solve a simple math problem, teachers and schools shouldn't get to blame it all on the kids or parents.

How do you grade a teacher by student performance without some type of annual standardized test for each grade K-12?
