Elon Musk may be buying Twitter

Hmm....Elon certainly has the resources to build a new competitor to Twitter that would likely be more successful than all the other 'competitors'. Heck, he could even afford to buy Twitter...that would be the better and faster option.

Speaking of which, the status for my address in south Georgia recently went from 'late 2021' to 'mid 2022' to 'too late, your area is already full'. And they just raised the price to $110/month. :(

Maybe you can run a really long Cat 6

It's now available in Hiram. They notified me a week ago that my receiver is ready and respond within 7 days. They also gave me instructions about selecting a site location for the dish and the requirements, which rule out being around many tall trees. Well my property is covered with tall trees, and since they went up to $110 per month, I let the deal lapse and they are refunding my sign-up fee. There is an app you can download from Starlink which helps you locate the best place for the dish, but it has to be no more than 75 feet from the router.

In the meantime T-Mobile 5G is available for my address. My router and gateway arrive in 4 days and has a monthly fee of $50 with no contract and no data limit, quit any time as long as you return the router and gateway. For that kind of money I can't afford not to give it a whirl.

T-Mo home internet sounds like a pretty good deal as long as it is stable. Unfortunately, it also isn't available at my south Georgia address. Doesn't mean I won't get it anyway though since they apparently don't block you if you order it for one location (such as my current house) and move it to a new location. Living in the boonies sucks for internet access....I need mega bandwidth to watch all the cat videos.

Be careful who you deal with at T-Mobile. They apparently use a lot of outside contractors for sales, and they will promise you everything and deliver none of it. We had a gut promise us all kinds of stuff at work and we signed a contract with him. Then T-Mobile would not honor what he promised and tried to bill us for over $3000. We cancelled the contract and sent all their phones back.

Also, they are not very careful about their credit checks too. My MIL had her SS number and ID used by someone else to open a T-Mobile account and they ran up $1000+ bills before being cut off and then they came after my MIL. Didn't care that the address didn't match, nor that the age on the account was over 80 YO.

Interesting, the Queen and I have both had T-Mobile for two years now and have had nothing but positive experiences with them.
Same here, great coverage and not nearly as difficult to deal with or as costly as AT&T.

We had some loaner T-Mobile phones. The signal strength in Hiram was actually better than AT&T. The problem was their independent sales reps.

T-Mobile 5G is up and running at my house which is 3 miles from the cell tower. A few drops today with speeds varying from 60Mbps to a best of 292Mbps down and about 10Mbps up. I am happy so far, but I will monitor this closely thru the spring and summer when all of the trees are full of leaves.

On another note, I'm no longer in the Truth Social waiting list. I finally got through today and was able to select a few sites to follow. Too early for a review but my initial thought is it seems to be similar to Telegram.
