Elon Musk continues criticism of Republican "big, beautiful bill" on X, calling it "insane spending" that increases debt ceiling by $5 trillion and threatening to form a new political party.

It would be great to have a real third party. But it depends.

Will we have to finance green energy and car technology that our energy grid is not ready to support?

Will it be supporting the constitutional values of a Christian Nation? Or will it be a squishy socialist experiment?

Will there be wealth redistribution for green credits, homeless, and drug addicts.

Will it be a platform that brings back implementation of our laws. Even the small laws for loitering, drug use, theft, general disorderly conduct?

No need for a new party. He could invest in the Libertarian party and maybe convince them to nominate someone reasonable.

At this point, the only way a third party is going to have any real chance is to pick a famous very well-liked person that supports those policies. I have no idea who that would be though.

Sorry, but the Libertarian party is a bunch of fruitcakes. And after all these years, they have only gotten worse.

Time to scrap it and start over.

Yes, I think I am more libertarian than what the current elected Republicans represent.

However, I struggle with the open drug use.

My experiences with all the dead beat homeless, people who can't keep a job, and those who end up screwing up there life... it revolves around drug use.

America has a huge drug use issue. Legalizing pot, and looking the other way as homeless use crack, meth, and whatever else they inject into their arms and toes as they sit on street curbs, has made our country weak, not strong. The theft, burglary, and stealing required to supply money for drugs when you don't have a job, eroded our civilized society.

I don't agree with this portion of the platform: Its social policy positions include ending the prohibition of illegal drugs, advocating criminal justice reform, supporting same-sex marriage, ending capital punishment.

I don't care about same sex marriage, but it could not just end there...now they are pushing for child genital mutilation and man boy love. Leave the damn kids alone, you sick bastards!

Justice reform has been done in California and it is a shit show. I'll pass on "not locking up criminals, or letting them out with time served."

The 'war on drugs' certainly hasn't worked over the last few decades. Should we double down on the 'war on drugs' to see if it'll finally work? Maybe, I'm not sure but what we're doing now certainly isn't working.

Wait...is the Libertarian party now supporting child genital mutilation and man boy love? Or are you suggesting it may ultimately lead to that?


One major Libertarian policy I don't support is their desire for open immigration.
 
OK....after reading more of the Libertarian party's current platform...forget them. We need a new party that supports the following, in my opinion:

- Fiscal conservatism (drastically cut spending)
- Eliminate progressive income tax and replace with either flat tax or the FairTax
- Strong national defense (that is the fed's primary job)
- More freedom, including on most social issues for adults
- Personal responsibility
- Enforced national borders
- Focus on families (as a mission, not spending)
- Strong enforcement of laws (injury, theft, etc.)
- More common sense
- Strong support of gun rights

And probably lots more. General rule should be more freedom and less govt control/reliance are almost always the answer for honest, hardworking Americans.

Sigh. Yes, I know this is most likely just "Trump being Trump" and saying things to troll people but he, as the most powerful person in the world, should not be making any sort of statement about deporting Elon Musk.

This, and parts of their foreign policy is a pipe dream.

Yes, we have stuck our nose into a lot of things we shouldn't have, and that has actually caused some problems. But we can't just ignore everything that's going on in the world either. One of the responsibilities of being as powerful and generally good as we are is that there are times when we must lead on the world stage. The recent Iran situation is a prime example. Whether you support the bombing or not, the world cannot afford for an evil regime such as Iran to have a nuclear weapon. A lot more countries, including some Arab governments, supported what we did there, whether they publicly said so or not. Granted, we helped to create the mess, and we shouldn't have.
 
No surprise DJT making stupid comments and throwing one time loyalists under the bus. He has done this his whole political career and probably his whole life. One of the main reasons I have no respect for the man. His only loyalty is to himself. Policies aside he is not a good person.

I won’t argue this time. I still support him 100% with what he’s trying to accomplish but sometime I do wonder why. The easy answer is because we’d be much worse off if she had won….but still.
