NEW YORK -
Hillary Clinton ruled out a 2020 presidential run for the first time on camera in an exclusive interview with News 12, pledging instead to take an active role by working with the candidates in the crowded Democratic field.
"I'm not running, but I'm going to keep on working and speaking and standing up for what I believe," she told News 12's Tara Rosenblum.

In her first local TV interview since the midterm elections, the former first lady and secretary of state opened up about 2016, 2020 and beyond. She expressed deep concerns about the state of American politics today -- and vowed to be vocal about those concerns.

"I want to be sure that people understand I'm going to keep speaking out," Clinton said. "I'm not going anywhere. What's at stake in our country, the kind of things that are happening right now are deeply troubling to me. And I'm also thinking hard about how do we start talking and listening to each other again? We've just gotten so polarized. We've gotten into really opposing camps unlike anything I've ever seen in my adult life."

Ya know...

I could be wrong about this...
However first Hillary says she is not gonna run...
Then Michael Bloomburg says he is not gonna run...

IMO they know something we kinda suspect (and has been suggested):
That it is gonna be hard to beat Trump in 2020!

They are not gonna waste their political capital on something they know they cannot attain.

Election history is in Trump's favor. Sitting presidents usually get re-elected unless they are horribly unpopular. The biggest cause for that is an electorate with war creep, but we're not at war. In fact, Trump has done pretty well at avoiding military conflicts. Second biggest cause of a sitting prez getting the boot is a horrible economy, and we know that isn't a problem....at least unless something unexpected happens.

But, things can happen. Take Bush 41, for instance. He did have a recession, but the truth was that it had already ended and growth in his last quarter was higher than at any time during the next eight years. But Clinton/Gore ran a brilliant campaign, and convinced plenty of people that Bush was a bad president, even though the facts and the numbers show just the opposite. Papa Bush was probably one of the better presidents in recent history.

Having said...I'm not seeing anyone in the Donkey pack yet that can likely pull off such a successful campaign. So far, they're just a bunch of Bozos trying to see who can out Socialist each other. Even though they have their following, I think the Dem's decision to go all out Karl Marx will energize the right and fuel a pushback.

They were gaining ground while they were taking an incremental approach, slowing moving left a bit at a time. IMO, the sudden switch to in our face Socialism just might have awaken the sleeping giant. If so, that's a very good thing.

But again...we cannot get over-confident or underestimate them. If we do, we could make a grave mistake.
