Dickey Betts Gone

I have been really busy the last few days but was surprised no one has posted a tribute to Dickey Betts on here or maybe I just missed it. Born in Florida (something in water down there produces great musical talent) Dickey was one of only two remaining members of the original Allman Brothers line up. Only Jaimoe is left standing. Dickey had a lot of demons in his life and a lot of loss. Duane, Berry, Butch and Greg all died before him. Duane, Berry and Butch tragically. Dickey was a master musician, song writer, vocalist and one of the greatest guitar players in history. His jazz/country influence can be heard on all the ABB early albums and especially after Duane's death starting with the "Eat a Peach" album. Greg was not a natural leader and Dickey pretty much took control of the band musically after Duane died. In my world and also a lot of people who know a lot about music rank the ABB were the greatest live band of all time. I am a little biased about this because I am a huge ABB fan. RIP Mr. Betts your music will stay alive in my world.

Just in case anyone is not familiar with Dickey or the ABB here are three long haired southern boys (Greg, Dickey, Warren) and the great Allen Woody with no auto tune or digital over production. This is what talent sounds like live.
