So... I'm trying to figure out the thought processes (such as they are) behind this.

Best I can figure is that the liberals see their base as being the young, while the GOP base is older and the virus attacks the older people much more seriously. So they want their group to get it before they get old and hope they give it to the GOP supporters and reduce their numbers.

He'll be out of office soon enough and he doesn't care that the next mayor ( and the one after that and the one after that..) will need to deal with the loss of tax revenue, terrible local economy and rampant crime in NYC's very near future.

Had he tried to destroy NYC on purpose, he couldn't have done a better job that what he has already accomplished to date.

I think you hit it. NY will vote Democratic for the next 10 years. The census was just taken, so NY will keep it's representation for the next 10 no matter how many people leave.

If they can get all those "extra" democrats to move to GA/FL and other points south, they will tip those states over the edge to democratic voting and they win.

It could work.
