Current Ga Case Count

All kinds of bad news in the last 24 hours.
Up 816 Cases in the last 24 hours and 75 deaths.
Paulding up to 57 cases and the first death. Getting close to home.

It may be a weekend catch up from deaths during the last few days, we had a spike on Tues of last week.

Mon 4/6 Evening - Statewide Cases: 7558 Ga Hospitalized: 1393 Ga Deaths: 294
Paulding: 57 Cases 1 Deaths
31274
tests given - 7558 Positive = 24.2% Positive

Was just looking at the latest numbers (noon today) and we had another increase, which was expected. I don't think we're going to peak til maybe next week sometime. I do have a question, and maybe one of you guys can answer it. Why are Dougherty county's number so high for their population? There are counties far more populated than they, yet they consistently rank pretty high (2nd only to Fulton County today).

Side note: My oldest stepson is in the Navy and is deployed near Japan. His ship doesn't have any cases, and I am thankful.

As I recall, Albany was hit early and it got out of control before anyone realized it was there.

Yeah, I gave up doing it twice a day, but up 1504 cases in the last 24 hours. Quite a jump.

Glad to hear the ship is corona free.

Have they made it so no one can leave or come onboard to make sure no one infects the ship?

1598 case jump in the last 24 hours.
Deaths climbed over 300
I find it hard to believe that all in the hospital are still there, but with this number approx 8.00% of the state beds are used by Covid patients.

However, keep in mind that with a population of over 10,000,000, this means that less than 0.09% of people in the state have tested positive.

Tues 4/7 Evening - Statewide Cases: 9156 Ga Hospitalized: 1899 Ga Deaths: 348
Paulding: 62 Cases 1 Deaths
33785
tests given - 9156 Positive = 27.1% Positive

There was a funeral for a prominent citizen in Albany. They had 12 cases directly from that one funeral and suspect that most others are related through community spread.

Our cases here in White County more than doubled since yesterday; from 4 to 10.

I think if I was the sheriff of the 4 counties that haven't had a case, I'd be thinking about blocking all the main roads into the county.

Amazingly, Montgomery County, where my hunting club is and my wife's Uncle and Aunt live, is one of the four.

Thanks Governor.
I see so many people not adhering to the social distancing guidelines. Outside of work, I don't go anywhere unless I absolutely need something essential. We have so many people coming to where I work wanting to get up close to us, but we back away from them to keep a safe distance between us. Many of them have the nerve to tell us to be safe. We'd be a lot safer if they just stayed home.

According to another neighbor, the VRBO nextdoor to us in Ellijay had 5 cars from different counties and about 15 people in it last weekend. I've met the owner once. That home is a business to him. He stopped renting when the County shut it all down, but there were people in it 2 days after the Governor killed the local orders. They had to turn cars away from Amicalola State park because the parking lot was full. Kemp's refusal to deal with this is insane.

I think Kemp will be a one-term governor.

I think there will be a tough primary. He's mishandled the SoS office when he was there, and appointing Liefler to the Senate was a total mistake. He's done. But Gap-Tooth Abrams would have been worse.

Over 1000 new cases, total over 10K, Hospitalized over 2K, deaths near 400.
However, 1048 new cases today is much less than yesterday's 1600.

Wed 4/8 Evening - Statewide Cases: 10204 Ga Hospitalized: 2089 Ga Deaths: 370
Paulding: 66 Cases 1 Deaths
38787
tests given - 2089 Positive = 26.3% Positive

I heard Kemp say last night that they only trust Thursday and Friday's numbers. I get the point, but he's kind of blowing this off when this is predicted to be the week things start to take off for Georgia. We aren't supposed to peak for 2 weeks yet. Folks can argue all day about what is and what isn't a case, and percentages, but raw deaths are raw deaths.

Yes I know that the press just found out that when you die hospitalized with a viral infection and comorbidities, the death is attributed to the virus. Conversely, if you die at home with an undiagnosed case of that same viral infection and comorbidities, your death will likely be attributed to the comorbidity unless an autopsy is ordered. This is how it has always been done, and nobody is intentionally fudging the Covad-19 numbers.

You knew I'd bite, hook line and sinker.

This is exactly why I question why our numbers are so out of whack when compared to the rest of the world. As you said, a death is a death. Death knows no boundary, border, hemisphere line, race, or gender. Should numbers for other countries be higher, should ours be lower, or are they all accurate or inaccurate? If not accurate then why report them at all, unless of course to intentionally cause a panic with an end game in mind. Also as you said, nobody is intentionally fudging numbers...so China's numbers are correct too? Or are we the only country reporting correctly?

Again, please don't take this as a personal attack as that's not what I intend.
