Current Ga Case Count

Thurs 4/23 Evening - Statewide Cases: 21830 Ga Hospitalized: 4145 Ga Deaths: 882
Paulding: 150 Cases 7 Deaths
107176
tests given - 21829 Positive = 20.7% Positive

Looking like a slow hang at the peak. That's good since the health system is not overloaded yet.

It's still funny to me how the cases/deaths seem to be tracking so well.

Testing rate is skyrocketing, 11,838 in the last 24 hours. However, the positive rate for that one day is at 6%!!

Yes, it's the weekend, but deaths per day is dropping like a rock. Only 8 today.

Looking at the daily rate, the positive test rate is dropping as well, for the last 6 days and that's with the testing rate going up.

Tests % Positive (Last 7 days)
5725 6%
4395 28%
3812 20%
5932 16%
6990 10%
6114 11%
11828 6%

Looks like most of the sickness out there ain't Covid.

Sat 4/25 Evening - Statewide Cases: 23216 Ga Hospitalized: 4353 Ga Deaths: 907
Paulding: 159 Cases 7 Deaths
119014
tests given - 23216 Positive = 19.5% Positive (Cumulative)

Sun 4/26 Evening - Statewide Cases: 23481 Ga Hospitalized: 4377 Ga Deaths: 916
Paulding: 160 Cases 7 Deaths
122604
tests given - 23481 Positive = 19.2% Positive (Cumulative)
Daily Positive Percent: 7%

If they make an antibody test available on line, I may order one just to see if it's not too expensive.

This is dropping off quick.

Wow, they did a complete re-vamp of the Ga web site. Must have cost a mint. All moving graphics and crap.

Dang, we keep hearing the states about to go broke and they spend money on a blasted web page.

https://dph.georgia.gov/covid-19-daily-status-report

Anyway, case count jumped as usual as the weekend counts came in. Not sure I believe the 1K number from the new web site, looked like a rounding issue as it showed as "1K" not 1000.

Mon 4/27 Evening - Statewide Cases: 24226 Ga Hospitalized: 4749 Ga Deaths: 1000
Paulding: 166 Cases 7 Deaths
127169 tests given - 24226 Positive = 19.1% Positive (Cumulative)
Daily Positive Percent: 16%

It appears that the Tests Performed number is much more up to date than that the test results number since they say that the results won't come back for several days at best.

However, the total Positive percentage is dropped to 17.7% and the daily percentage has been < 12% 5 our of the last 6 days.

It will be interesting to see how opening up some of the state affects this.

Tues 4/28 Evening - Statewide Cases: 24884 Ga Hospitalized: 4896 Ga Deaths: 1036
Paulding: 171 Cases 7 Deaths
140223 tests given - 24854 Positive = 17.7% Positive (Cumulative)
Daily Positive Percent: 5%

I will say that my 5 day chart looks nothing like the 7 average chart that the state is putting out. Their chart is much more positive than mine.

Missed Wed, but we had another death in Paulding with covid as a contributed reason.

Appears to have been a 67 YO Female.

Test counts continue to climb, but I suspect we won't see the results until next week since it seems to take a week or so get these results back. With the increase in test kits available being blasted out on the news, I haven't seen anything about the *labs* being able to increase their throughput, so all this may not mean much.

Wed 4/29 Evening - Statewide Cases: 25939 Ga Hospitalized: 5103 Ga Deaths: 1103
Paulding: 176 Cases 8 Deaths
143790 tests given - 25939 Positive = 18.0% Positive (Cumulative)
Daily Positive Percent: 30%

Thurs 4/30 Evening
- Statewide Cases: 26937 Ga Hospitalized: 5198 Ga Deaths: 1137
Paulding: 189 Cases 8 Deaths
164465 tests given - 26937 Positive = 16.4% Positive (Cumulative)
Daily Positive Percent: 5%

7 day average is not showing a huge drop in case/death counts, but my charts are based on summary numbers where the state's charts are based on when the case was confirmed, which, since it takes a week to get the results back, make the last week's numbers artificially low. I hope Kemp isn't using *that* chart to base his policies on.

Well, being on workcation, I've not remembered to check the stats often, so I've missed a bunch. (That's my story for forgetting to look and I'm sticking to it!)

Cases in Paulding are up by 14 in 4 days, which is less than the same time period of the previous week of 24.
Ga deaths in 4 days were 127, which is less than the same time period of the previous week at 142.

Case counts are really jumping as the test kits are becoming available. Percent positive is dropping quite a bit, but since Wellstar is testing everyone (including myself) with the active virus test who is having elective surgery even with no symptoms, this is expected.

I got an email that anti-body tests are now available in Hiram without a doctor's order. Insurance is said to often pay, but if not it's $200. It would almost be worth it to me to know if that "bad cold" I had in Jan was actually Covid-19 and I can quit worrying. Wife reminded me that she got a bad cough a week after I did which would match covid's infection rate, so it could be we've both had it. 'Course, I won't tell work, or they will have me flying all over. :)

Fri 5/8 Evening - Statewide Cases: 32178 Ga Hospitalized: 5975 Ga Deaths: 1399
Paulding: 221 Cases 10 Deaths
227,477 tests given - 32178 Positive = 14.0% Positive (Cumulative)

Thought I'd take a look and see whats begin reported:

Wed 5/27 - Statewide 518,591 tests given - Cases: 44,421 - Hospitalized: 7,666 - Deaths: 1,907
Paulding: 301 Cases 11 Deaths

A friend of ours from south Paulding is in Wellstar now with pneumonia and has tested positive for Covid-19, so she is one of those 301. Her son-in-law and daughter who live with her were tested tuesday, but results won't be available until Friday/Monday.

Contact tracing has to be worthless with that long of a wait for results.

How does the graph look? Still trending downward?

Here is the official GA graph. You must understand that the counts are added to it based on the day the test was given, NOT the day the results came in. So numbers for the last week are always lower than they will be.

With all the people out and about with no masks, I expect cases to jump again.

Death chart. I would expect it to be more real time, as no delay in testing for death. :(

However some reporting delay as everything is coded.

Well, while I've been out and about this last week, I've noticed that there are long lines at the Covid19 testing sites. (30+ cars are one of them I saw) when two weeks ago, the poor people looked bored out there by themselves.

So I thought I'd look at the GDOH site again.

Here is the new case count chart:

Looks like we had a small surge in the 7 day average when the state opened up, but still not huge.

Can't figure out why the surge in testing though...

Deaths at least are trending down. Will be interesting to see how these charts are impacted from the protests in about 2 weeks.
