Cold weather soups

I made some chicken and rice soup tonight in honor of the cool spell. Boiled some chicken breasts, kept the broth, added in some more broth, chopped up some little green onions, carrots, mushrooms, a can of black beans, and a can of cream of chicken soup.

It's cooling off on the stove, and making the house smell might fine!

What are some of your favorite cool weather soups?

Yummm...

My favorite is veggie beef soup. I make a pot roast in the crock pot one day and save all the "broth" left. Let it sit overnight. Next day, skim the fat off, pour thru a cheesecloth and add whatever veggies I have on hand and any left over roast beef. I usually have to add beef broth. Oh, and some elbow noodles, too. It's my fav.

I'm not doing so well on this vegetarian kick. LOL

Does chili count? I loves me some good chili. I make it a bit hot for most people's tastes though.

All of them! I love love love soup!

Veggie soup (I almost always have some homemade in the frig)
Minestrone
Split pea with ham
Roasted tomato basil
Potato leek
and on and on

I love potato soup as well. I also like chili on cold evenings. I might make some potato soup tomorrow for lunch.

Roasted tomato basil and gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches are a staple in the winter here.

I LOVE SOUPS!

My favs are tomato basil, potato (with cheese and bacon) and chicken corn chowder! YUMMY!

Love soups in fall/winter. I have a few recipes that are always a hit....pot/ham, broc/cheese, spiced up sweet tater, and a sorta of German one with some weird ingredients, but it is tasty

Let me get the recipe. I'll post it in the "what's cooking" forum.

Oh! Forgot about broccoli and cheese soup. Another one of my favorites! (Weird, I don't like cheese with my broccoli unless it is in soup or a casserole)
