Christmas tree setup?

With Mrs. Mac working most days, 7 days a week, it fell to me to take care of dragging out the decorations and putting things up.

Put up the pre-lit tree. It now only has 2 out of about 8 strands working. Luckily, I'm a nut about Christmas lights. I just added 6-8 long strings and it doesn't look half bad. This tree is getting the heave-ho at the end of this holiday! Went through 3 storage boxes hanging my prized Hallmark Motion & Light, some neat LED ornaments, some very nostalgic and new decorations. Went through about 4 more storage containers digging out stuff to put around the house. Fixed 3 small decorated trees to go in the guest bedrooms.

Getting ready to put up some lights outside. I'm not going to get too Oswald on them, probably just a couple of strands.

So, how is your decorating going?

We don't go all out anymore. The kid is gone and we're back in the woods where no one but the critters would see it anyway.

And we haven't even started, so dunno how far we'll get. All the festivities will be at other folk's houses this year anyway.

I put the tree up and got everything out this week. I plan to have the kids decorate the tree this evening. I still have to check all of our outdoor lights to see which ones work before I start decorating outside...I would have done it last week, but my allergies were bothering me and the dust would have made it much worse. Hopefully we will have time this week to put the outdoor lights up and make our gingerbread house.

I'm right there with you, sister. My allergies give me a FIT around Thanksgiving, and last weekend and this weekend both I have felt like death on a soda cracker. Better this afternoon, thank the Lord.

Mrs. Reacher had hers up the week of Thanksgiving. Daughter Reacher has one in her room. A small one with all red lights is in the "eat in" kitchen and I'm seriously considering one with all BLUE lights in the Man Cave. This is the one in the living room. ;D

Dang JR, you've already got gifts under the tree??

And Waski, I've always had a tree. Single or not.

I'm single, so I don't decorate!

I'm with ya man! If it was up to me, there would not be a tree at all. But guess who gets stuck taking it down? The wife would leave it up until Easter if I ley her.

hahaha...it is so funny here in Richmond. The acceptable Christmas light decorating of a house is the Williamsburg candle in the window method as shown in the picture below. If you do anything more than this like lights on the outside you are immediately added to the tacky lights home tour. lol

Our new neighbors apparently did not get the memo. They have blinking led lights around their roof overhang. Looks like they are celebrating Hanukah but they do have multicolored lights strewn around the shrubbery to complete the Christian motif.

I have grown to truly appreciate the Williamsburg method.

OH NO! Not in my house! lol

I was raised to believe that it was bad luck to leave the tree up past New Years. If she's working on Jan 2nd and I'm off, the tree and everything is put away while she's at work! ;)

If it were up to me and my hubby we wouldn't have a tree either..well maybe a small one on the table or something, but our kiddos are all about tradition and they expect a tree to be up no matter what. So this year I got the tree put up and left the decorations sitting right next to the tree and told them to get busy. Funny how when they are left to decorate, the tree doesn't need as much decorating as when mom does it. So we have a tree with lights, silver and blue tinsel garland and silver bows and a few snowmen ornaments :HAHA

That is perfectly fine with me. My son is upset that i didn't decorate the outside with lights..so guess I might have to do the bushes tonight atleast =)

Picked out the perfect tree yesterday and spent all night decorating
with over 500 lights, countless ornaments, and 100 handmade icicles.

Our daughter has spent the whole morning happily undecorating the tree... :love

Well we got our tree decorated yesterday evening....and we all ended up in tears. Last year I had an ornament made that had all of our names on it including the pets. Well in Sept. we had to put our cat down after she was attacked. My daughter was hit especially hard and was reminded of it all again when she saw that ornament. My poor baby cried for about 15 minutes and was sad the rest of the evening.

We all need to take a bunch of pictures of houses in our area and start a "Tacky Lights" thread! :laugh
