Braves 2022

He shouldn't have been so greedy.

Based on many reports, his agents are the ones that screwed it all up. Sure, he wanted lots of money (doesn't everyone), but, in this case, it seems like he would have stayed for less than his agent demanded.

Don't you just love baseball these days, players unions, free agency, binding arbitration, and bargaining agents? I don't think he was greedy, so much as his agent was greedy and Freddie got sold down the river. Ah the good old days when players made a living wage quite a bit better than the average guy and stayed put. Now they want to be considered entertainers and compensated accordingly by getting their cut of the teams financial gross, and since then things have gone downhill. "The love of money is the root of all evil"

Watched two games of the Dodgers series. My take away is starting pitching good, middle inning bullpen sucks, closers semi-suck. Defense good, offense average to good. Acuna cocky prima dona needs benching until he learns some discipline. Bobby Cox had to bench Andrew Jones to get his attention.

More Freddie news....if this is true, I feel bad for Freddie now. His agent clearly didn't act in his best interest.

Respect Freddie but the whole deal (or lack of) was his responsibility. He has buyers remorse and the ATL series brought it home. His douche bag agent really only got him an extra year on his contract. I kinda think his ole lady wanted to go to LA to be close to her family also. Freddie was the commodity and had the right to say no. I also think his agent failed to do due diligence and realize Olson could be got for less and is five years younger.

That's right. He had the final say on whether or not to accept the LA deal.

OK here is a thought. Maybe I am the only one who thinks this is a good idea. Trade Acuna now. The team could get top return on him right now. He has not contributed to the team in a season and a half. He looks lazy in the field, at the plate and on the bases. He has a crappy attitude and I think he is a bad influence in the clubhouse. His at bats and fielding in the last two series have sucked. The team won a world championship without him and can easily do without him now. The team could probably get a very productive position player, some bullpen help and some salary help if they trade him while the iron is hot. For Riley to be left out of the AS game and this waster to be starting is a joke. JMO.

:faint:

He was carrying the team last year before he got hurt. He hit 24 homers with 52 RBIs in 82 games last year before getting hurt. He hasn't played as well this year, but he has been recovering from the injury and probably somewhat hesitant to go all-out until he's 100% certain the injury has healed.

He's signed to a massively club-friendly contract (10 years for $124 million) that is cheap now and will be even cheaper in relation to other players as each year passes.

You follow it closer than I do but I am still no fan of Attituda.

It looks like Austin Riley will now be in the All Star game... Chop on
