:tapfoot2 Two times today I've gotten the "blue screen of death" on my laptop! It gave me the code "ialmnt5.sys".

Any ideas? Other than I REALLY need to back up my pictures! :pray

Copy anything you want to keep to a thump drive and wait for a computer guru to show up.

What's a thump drive? It turns on when you thump it? Or maybe it thumps in rhythm to music when it's inserted in the USB slot? :D :D

I'm just messin' with you, NG...you know I love you. :love

Blue Screens are usually caused by bad or failing memory chips, or buggy software some times. Call around to find a shop with a memory tester and take the laptop there, DO NOT try to take the memory chip out yourself.

LOL a thump drive is what my son does to me when I've really made him mad about something stupid I did with my computer, often causing a blue screen of death. :)

Hey Madea did you ever get your blue screen issue figured out? If not let me know and I will see what I can dig up.

It recovered and has been acting mostly normal. So, I have no idea. :)) I have no knowledge of the inner workings. it's an older laptop, but I do like it.

Go to the Cloud!! Download some cloud software to your computer - send your pictures and other important docs out onto the "cloud." You can access them from anywhere so if something happens to your computer, your pics are saved.

In other words, use something like Picasa. Decent and free from the Google peeps!!

I do need to do that! I have the free photobucket account (that my phone auto backs up to), but I think there's a limit on the number of pictures. I'll have to check around. Thanks for the advice.

If you ever have any more blue screen issues just let me know. I can work on it for you.

MicroSoft Cloud, SugarSync, DropBox - most of those have limited storage for free and you can use it for more than just pictures, which is really good if you work from your home computer alot - you can make your home files accessible at work and vice versa.
