Bank recommends in Dallas or Hiram

Looking for a new bank. Tired of the big banks. I’ve banked with SunTrust for over 30 years and I’m done.
Are there any banks that are open without an appointment anymore?
any recommendations?

We now use the Goenergy Financial Credit Union on Dallas Hwy in the WalMart Parking Lot. It's a credit union that's open with actual bank tellers that can assist, but you have to go inside to take care of business, The drive-up is an ATM only.

We also have an account at the Regions bank at Merchant's Drive. I like them because both their lobby as well as drive-thru are open with actual live tellers and the folks there seem very friendly. Good Luck.

I used to have LGE Credit Union, but they got rid of the drive-thru windows and installed ATM's... That really turned me off. I like an actual person...a teller to take care of my needs, not a machine. That's huge for me, so LGE is a not recommended.

I've been using a credit union here for a long time now. I like it because the tellers are friendly and helpful. The customer service is a lot better than what I was getting with banks.

We've been with Regions for a long time (20 Years) and have been happy. Enough branches to be convenient in the SE, but not too big.

Don't like Suntrust myself. Run, don't walk, from Wells Fargo.

My accounts are at Regions with the exception of one at Coosa Valley Credit Union. Regions actually chose me when they bought First National Bank of Paulding years ago. I have been happy with them over all. I had two incidents with them concerning bank fraud over the years. One on a personal account and one business. They corrected the problem pretty quickly and replaced 100% of the funds both times. I like CVCU they are small with the fee structure you only get at credit unions vs. banks. Their issue is the number locations even with affiliated credit unions is no where near Regions. I would not drive though the parking lot of a Bank of America. I had some dealings with them when I used to have a mortgage they acquired. Absolutely too big with horrible customer service.

We blacklisted Wells Fargo and Regions years ago, we're at Suntrust for our main banking and for our business banking but they're on the brink of being added to the list. They closed the branch which was inside the Publix at Dallas Hwy and Old Lost Mtn Road so we're using the combined Suntrust / BBT branch near Dallas Hwy and Barrett Pkwy.....it sucks. I mean every week there's some issue, nothing major, just a nuisance and irritation mainly.

Last year we opened an account at Delta Community Credit, they have been wonderful to work with but we only did a small amount there. The folks are super nice and so far we've not had a bad experience.

We've been with Suntrust for years, and they have generally been good; but any of the big banks are gonna suck once you get out of the branch.

I strongly recommend finding either a small, independant bank or a credit union.

My problem with Suntrust was when as a customer of 20+ years (started at First Atlanta) wanted a small 15K loan to buy a lot for the house we are currently in, I was told flat out. "We don't do land loans. Do you have 20K in stocks you can borrow against? " If I had 20K in stocks, I wouldn't need to borrow a lousy 15K for a lot would I ?!? Any bank that is so big they can't work with a customer is too big.

I went to BoA, and they approved it within minutes. When we moved to Paulding, no Suntrust branch around, and Regions was the only convenient branch so we changed to them for checking and later moved the mortgage there. Had a little issue with the Home Equity Loan, but they fixed it and told me how to keep it from happening again. ( I had borrowed from the home equity and was paying it back for over a year. With one month payment left, I was hit with a $100.00 inactivity charge. I was like, what the heck do you call 12 months of payments?? Turns out "Activity" to them means borrowing money, not paying it back" So once or twice a year, I transfer $100 to checking, then back 2 days later. Whatever. I threatened to set up an auto daily transfer of $1.00 back and forth every other day, but she wasn't fond of that solution. :) )

Dad had his accounts ( and I still have them there as I move through the probate process) with BB&T as they were close. But with them merging with Suntrust and already having issues with accounts that have been grandfathered in from previous merges, I will minimize my dealings with them.

I'm with Wells Fargo and I could tell you horror stories and good things about them. Basically I stick with them because every time I find a nice small bank that does what I want, (full online banking), they get bought by one of the big guys. Life's too short to spend it on an endless search for the perfect bank. This one does what I need done, and if there is a problem or I need cash, they have branches all over the country and probably a few others, which is a nice little perk!

I can tell you horror stories about Wells Fargo. Not to mention some likely security violations.

Some of my Son's education loans are /were at Wells Fargo. All his other finance activities didn't take near as long each month as attempting to fix the latest Well Fargo screwup on those two accounts.

When he had the cash to pay off the first of the loans, they told him that he had to go through this convoluted payoff system to get *permission* to pay it off early. He's my boy... he got PO'd and sent them the current balance less $1.00. Then when the next statement came in, he paid the amount + fifty cents.

They about had a corporate heart attack. He gets a personal CALL, a CALL, about the 37 cents that he ended up overpaying. He was nice to the girl, and told her his grief was with her bosses, who he then called idiots and morons, knowing that they joined the line. After discussing the idiot process to get payoff, he told her she was welcome to transfer the 37 cents to his other loan or spend $2.00 to send him a check for said 37 cents, he didn't care either way. He also pointed out that this call to discuss it had cost Wells Fargo at least $4 in time and maybe as much as $25 depending on how much she made and hour and how much her boss was paid since he was listening too. As their conversation ended, he wished her a great day and better job in the future.

He speaks English and Sarcasm.

Sounds like he was taught well. Congrats on great parenting.
