Back from Michigan

The wife and I returned from Michigan around 11 last night after spending Christmas with the 5 grandchildren. It was a great time. The trip back was a real pain in the arse though and took much longer than normal. Traffic was heavy moving south on I75 most of the way back. Ohio was a pain because traffic was backed up on the expressway moving at only 35mph for over an hour. Once we got into Kentucky, speed picked up until we hit the snowstorm south of Lexington. The snow was accumulating quickly on the black top making it difficult to tell what lane you were in. Traffic was moving at times as slow as 10mph, but no faster than 40 until we were about 25 miles from Knoxville. BTW, we have a lot more snow than Knoxville. From Knoxville to home it was clear sailing.

Driving in that stuff was no big deal for me as I have years of experience with the stuff. It was quite the adventure for my wife though just being the passenger.

Welcome home, glad you made it safely! Going to try and venture out in a bit. Just waiting for it to warm a little more. I'm the only one driving today. :D

Glad you made it home safely. Half of our family did not make it in for Christmas in Alabama. We left late in the morning on Christmas Day and came home early. I was still a nervous wreck. We drove on snow and ice in Michigan but it has been years. Hubby did well but the trip took far longer. It is the other folks out there on the road with us that I worry about. ::)

BTW, the prime rib turned out great!!! It was my best yet.

We drove home from Lebanon, TN (near Nashville) on Sunday morning. The worst part was going over the mountain in the blowing snow. I must say, TN does a good job keeping the roads salted and cleared.
