Some of you might recall my prior posts about how we're going to do the refrigerant phaseout / changeover all over again?
Here's Kerry doing what the Democrats do best; hijacking issues and using them as scare tactics for political gain.
His wording shows that he has no scientific understanding of what he's talking about, but that doesn't stop him from preaching the gloom and doom.
BTW..."HFC's" are the current crop of refrigerants being used. You know, the "environmentally safe" ones that replaced CFC's. The two most of you will recognize is 134a, which is used in automotive air conditioners and refrigerators, and R410a, which is used newer home and building air conditioners. Another, R404a, which is used in most commercial refrigeration, starts phasing out next year. First on the hit list is supermarkets, so get ready for them to pass along the costs in your food products.
134a will be going away soon too, they have already started using another refrigerant for automotive air conditioning in Europe and in a few models here. 134a kinda sucks, so that part doesn't break my heart. We have a few more years on home air conditioning, so 410a is still your only choice right now.
While HFC's are zero ozone depleting; they are greenhouse gasses. This was common knowledge when we changed over to them, and the government made us do it anyway.
Anyone who doesn't believe that the chemical companies (Dupont, etc) and the Democratic party isn't driving this should think again.
Here is the asshat extraordinaire saying air conditioners and refrigerators are as big a threat as Islamic terrorism.
