81 percent of COVID-19 patients on cruise were asymptomatic, study says, raising concerns on lifting lockdown

Article also states that a study from the CDC finds that one third of people who got the virus might have been asymptomatic.

Now...the article paints this as bad news, citing much greater opportunity to spread the virus and even questioning lifting the lockdowns.

I see it much differently. To me, this is good news that indicates anywhere from one third to three quarters of people who get COVID-19 will not get sick from it, and I also see this as a possible indication far more people have already had the virus, and that we are much closer to having a herd immunity than previously thought.

Opinions?

I agree with you that it is good news. I honestly believe this has been here much longer than expected and that herd immunity is closer than the so called "experts" would say. Anything that can be done to scare everyone into lock downs again is their goal. I have never been one for conspiracy theories but my wife was talking to an ambulance driver the other day at her work and they said that the hospitals were pretty much empty, no one is going due to fear of getting COVID-19 (not as many COVID patients as the media likes to sell). Now you know why hospitals and doctor offices are laying people off. FEAR is what they are selling and it is working and will continue to work. I have been out and about a lot. I dont wear a mask but I do have one with me in case my allergies or GERD causes a coughing fit. You should see the looks if you just have one cough these days.

My opinion is I'm sick and tired of hearing about Covid percentages and estimates. You live and you die. If you go outside you could die from Covid 19 or even a boot on your neck. LIve and take a chance on life. I'm much more concerned about the now 40 million people unemployed. JMO.

Ah, now, don't be concerned about those 40 million, the guberment gonna take care of them!!! :)

I was upset to read that the antibody tests can be only about 50% correct in certain circumstances, that's pretty much the definition of useless.

Don't have to take care of those in MN now, they're already getting their free stuff.

For a while. Now that they have destroyed all their local shopping, they will start complaining they have no place to spend their government money and ask why they can't have nice things.

Here's what we don't know. Can they spread the virus as easily as those who have or get symptoms? Are we talking about a bunch of Typhoid Marys or are we talking about someone you would have to.play tonsil hockey with to get it? Are they immune or not once the virus runs it's course? Knowing that they exist is just the start of the questioning.
