Mid Century Modern

I literally grew up in a TV shop. Could have gotten these cabinets all day long.
I thought of you when I saw this... but you don't have a cat... :cheesy: It is sort of a clever way to use what is a nice "piece of furniture" that no longer has a purpose.

I have an old wood ice-box from an 1800's condemned victorian house my dad bought when I was 5 years old. There were all sorts of things still in the attic and basement which were fixed up by my father and kept.

The ice-box had no purpose any longer, but it is neat to have. I ended up with it in my 20's.

I used to keep phone books, flashlights, and candles in the refrigerated space, and batteries in the area an ice block would go. It just sat in the corner of the room and added interest. In 100 years those old TV cabinets might be the same. People will wish they hung onto them. Now my old ice-box holds silver and crystal tchotchkes in the refrigerated space and Batteries and flashlights where the ice would go.

I always thought it would be great to have a wooden phone booth in the corner.
We remodeled a New York hotel lobby back in the 80's that had a bank of ornate wood phone booths like you see in the old black and white movies. I told the GC to save me three or four of them. He called me and said they were like one big piece and they couldn't figure a way to demo them without destroying them or taking days. He said I could come take them apart but he could only give me a week. Couldn't take the time off and after a round trip ticket that would be a chunk of change. I still wish I had one of those.
