Pay raise for the military?

All these libs talk about a minimum wage of $15 per hour...I have an idea...start with the military FIRST! Something tells me they wouldn't agree with that one bit. They literally wear my SIL out, especially when they are underway. He tells me that he has calculated his average wage at less than $5 per hour with all the OT they put him through.

Congress approved a 2.1% pay raise for the military yesterday. During my 25 years of service, the lowest increase we ever received was 3%. In 1984 we received two pay raises. The first went into effect on January 1 for 4% and the second went into effect July 1 for 3.5%. We received another 4% in 1985. We really liked Reagan as Commander-in-Chief.

Yes we did.

I would hope you admit that inflation was quite a bit higher in those days, so the raises would have to have been higher to just be a Cost of Living Raise. Inflation for 2015 was 0.1% *, so a 2.1% raise would be a true raise in purchasing power.

* Assuming you trust the government's inflation numbers which are adjusted for quite a few political reasons.

My son makes around 50K a year being in the military. Not bad for a 23 year old. BAH is tax free. My gripe is GA needs to stop taxing AD pay. Key is staying single and getting a room mate, that really helps.

It has changed quite a bit, I was surprised at the pay scale the last time I saw it.
