ALTHOUGH, I have always said if I ever lost my marbles enough to think I wanted to get married in Vegas, it'd be at the drive-through chapel sitting on the back of a convertible. With an Elvis impersonator standing beside singing. THAT would be so cheesy it would be classic. :D
I want an invite!

But of course! I can see it now...a semi-circle of friends and family with Elvis standing at the front corner of the car serenading everyone! ;)

I can't wait...now let's get you out there to meet a man you want to marry!

I look at legalized gambling as a voluntary tax. Nobody needs to gamble, everybody understands that the states tax the crud out of it, and it should mean that I pay less in taxes since I don't gamble. I do get the occasional lotto ticket when it gets big, but it's not something I need like food or gas. So tax away. Just don't raise spending.

Yeah, well, that last sentence is the kicker. All the gubment sees is MO' MONEY!!! Woo hoo!!! And taxes don't go down with gambling revenue. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. Politicians never saw a dollar they didn't want to spend yesterday.

No doubt they would need to do something like what they did with the lottery income ... establish the tax rate and then earmark the funds for specific purpose(s) and then protect it via constitutional amendment. Only with this new income, they should direct the funds to programs to help localities with essential services, not develop new "handout" programs. I love Pre-K and Hope in concept but the people of Georgia don't need even voluntary tax income going to anything else that doesn't help to ease their tax burden. And as pointed out before, our politicians don't need to be given any more discretionary cash. They will find all kinds of ridiculous things to spend it on that do next to nothing to improve the lives of the masses.
